mattstoc's Journal, 21 October 2016

Well - I'm back and writing the same thing I have written a few times before.

In July of 2015 had gotten down to 189lbs. Everyone but me thought that was too low. I started relaxing. Weight crept up and my food logging frequency decreased. Went to the endocrinologist yesterday - I'm back at 260. Nearly as heavy as when I got serious in summer of 2014. Blood sugars are back up. I'm not exercising or sleeping well. I am working and eating too much. Basically every bad habit I have ever had is back.

Doctor is emphatic that I get my act together or I will be dead.

I start today with the intent and desire to do it again. Get back on the path that worked for me.

I have two things going for me this time that I didn't have in the past:
1) I have done this before and know how to succeed
2) I learned that I enjoy running, I miss that and want to get back to it.

My conservative goal is to lose 10lbs by 12/16 (next doctor's appointment).

Y'all do better than me.

Have a great day

yummy, but dumplings are fat and calorie dense as 1 pork =80 steamed, 90 fried, veggie =35 steamed, 45 fried. This is without any dipping sauce 😭

Your comment "learned that I enjoy running" really resonates with me. When I get way off track from my fitness goals I remind (and remind and remind and remind . . ) myself how much I enjoy just taking a long walk or . . . when I get back on track, a long bike ride

It's a cautionary tale for all of us. One day of poor choices has the potential to turn into two days, then weeks, months. So glad you found the strength to come back and make a new plan.

Thanks for all the words on encouragement. BTW the Karen Carpenter reference (dark humor) made me laugh out loud. I made it through the weekend with out messing up too much. I ate a bit more than I wanted yesterday, but kept the carbs in line (diabetic reasons not low carb diet). Sugars are good this AM. JMB3450 - Sorry to hear you've had some creep - I'm obviously there with you (plus a lot). Keep up the fight.

Don't get dead if it's up to you. You said all the bad habits are back-find some new one. I pry you find the intestinal fortitude you need to get a grip. Pulling for you, and said prayer for you as well.
