22

Today is the last day of teaching guitar for two months. I teach privately but follow the school's schedule. It's too much of a fight and everyone needs a break. It's actually kind of funny to watch my students slowly lose focus over the last few weeks of the spring/summer session as the close of school draws nearer.

Looking forward to only working 5 days a week and 8 to 5 instead of 8 to 8 three days at a time. I'll miss my students. I'll love the time doing other things. Beautiful bright sunny day today, and, as often happens, several students have called and are 'unavailable'. Just because they have provincial exams? I think they have their priorities messed up. ;)

Your post brings back memories of when I was a kid. My parents always wanted me to take music lessons (and so did I really, but being like kids sometimes are I was rebellious for years) So I took violin for a couple years, then clarinet for a couple years, then sax for a couple of years, then to guitar, and finally bass guitar. I used to look forward to summer because my parents used to have me take classes in school, then they had me take private lessons once a week. The summer was great because it meant I would only have lessons one day a week but of course, I still had to practice every single day. Believe it or not, those are fond memories of my youth. lol

My wife is a schoolteacher. Believe it, the teachers are every bit as ready for the break as the students. And she won't spend the whole summer whining, "I'm Boooored!"

My grandkids take private lessons continuing throughout the summer. Trumpet and guitar. I'm trying to figure out how to get them to practice scales together. Never give up...never give up.
