So all these wonderful people are bringing over meals to us, while we get situated. I am so grateful! The carb reduction will come soon enough, but in the meantime, I am just enjoying -not emotionally eating- but simply enjoying all the meals that people are bringing. Lasagna, Chicken enchiladas, homemade bread & chili. People did bring salad too....so I've tried to eat more of that and less of the main dishes. All in all, I will gain a couple pounds, and then lose them when excavation and rebuilding starts in a couple weeks. Not going to get all bent out of shape over what I'm eating.
This weekend, I finally began to feel the effects of the stress/trauma, and have been more tired than I can ever recall. Step by step it will get better.
Probably what contributed to that, is my own defiance. My husband, kids and even the fire chief told me not to go see the remains of the house. And I didn't. But, there are so many pics online now, that I ended up looking at them. I can't even tell what room(s) they used to be. Entire walls are gone, the second and third floors of the house are gone, the roof is gone. The front porch exists only because there was no basement below it. There is a staircase going from what used to be the mudroom, up to the first floor...but the walls are gone and the floor is gone. It is a disaster. But, it will get better.
Take care all you dear people! Be back soon.....Annie

Annie, my parents lost most of their home to a fire a few months after I left for college. That's been decades ago and I still remember how it feels today. I'm so grateful that you're in a wonderful community who is supporting you so lovingly. I believe you're wise to make the choices you're making now. You're being mindful....without adding another stressor of what you should and shouldn't eat. That will come in it's own time. I'd be willing to bet the shock is beginning to sink in...and thus the tiredness. Take gentle care of yourselves. As you've said, it will ALL get better. Might take some time, but you'll get there.

Thanks, Vickie! It is hard to think about all the heirlooms that were lost, but ya can't take it with ya when ya go....so...whatever. I'll make the best choices I can, but I know right now, that if I don't feel like cooking, I won't eat. And, that's not terribly wise. So...I am blessed to have food before me, and will get back on track soon. Thanks for the encouragement!!!!!! A
