So it's New Years Day, happy new year to everyone! Well my weight is up a bit, no big surprise after a New Year's Eve party. In fact, if it weren't for this darn cold I've been dealing with, I probably would have eaten alot more than I did. We go to a friend's party almost every year, and that was probably the least amount of food I've eaten at the party. And the best part is, I actually weigh less than I did this time last year - maybe only 5 lbs less, but less is less!

And of course, this is the day we make those obligatory New Year's Resolutions. I read a post the other day from jpartlett on setting goals, and the fact that only about 8% of resolutions are kept. Well, my number one resolution is: to travel to New Zealand this year!!! I call myself Taurielfan for a reason - I want to see Hobbiton, Wellington, Queenstown & all the other places where the Hobbit/LoTR movies were made (or at least as many as possible). I do plan to do lots of hiking & kayaking while there, so I'll need to get plenty of training for that. I've been saving money for 2 1/2 years, and in January 2016 I should have $3 grand or more! I'll be putting about $100 a paycheck in savings starting this month. I thought I'd be going in March, but my husband deep-sixed that plan. He did promise that he'd have enough money to go with me if I wait until October, but I swear I'll go without him if I have to, hehe!

Of course there's also the obligatory "lose 10 lbs by my birthday," which I make every year and DON'T manage to do. I think this year I'll just stick with tracking and exercising, and focus more on being fit for New Zealand, and hopefully lose a few more lbs in the process. Hope everyone else has successful resolutions this year!
