PinayRN's Journal, 01 December 2022

Wow I am almost there. Then after a visit to the urgent care. Both my hip joints are now bone on bone and will start with steroid treatment. Well I know what NOT to do. No more HIIT workouts, running, squats and/or jumping workouts. Well I still have to look at my resilience on other workouts such as low impact and other workouts that will give me the same results to reach my goal and maintain it. After my orthopedic consult of course. The most important part that I will definitely watch for is not to fall. Hahaha growing old does puts things in perspective.
I’m gonna reach you 108.5 before the end of this month HOORAAH🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

How long have you been doing these workouts?

Bone on bone sounds like the most painful thing ever. From workouts, do you think, like repetitive movement injuries? Or just too much jarring impact with too much weight on your frame?

@otb it does but this won’t stop me. I like what you improved in your gym room. Glad your kids like it too. They’re definitely inspired by you and living your best. Keep it up 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽💪🏽

@Sup Well…… I started running two years ago, did the five K race and was planned to do a half marathon until I pulled my inner thigh muscle. Then I started HIIT training with weights mostly almost every day. These last 9-10 months I have been doing a variety of workouts i.e. yoga, stretching, zumba, zumba toning and weightlifting. Overall its genetics (predisposed to osteoporosis) long time sports player from elementary to post college playing volleyball and running. In adulthood plenty stair climbing, running and skipping. So over time lots of hard impact thinking it will strengthen my bones. But it was the opposite that happened. I am moving on and getting smart and safe about now. Sup you’re still my inspo for the six pack. I am going to get mines out from hiding. 🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽

Ouch, that sounds painful. Are/were you a straddle split stretcher? I learned this summer that most of us aren't meant to do that and it grinds away your hips.

Good luck—I know you will keep moving forward!

Sorry you're in pain. I HATE those steroids. I have orthopedic issues too but not my hips. My neighborhood park has indoor and outdoor pools and has become my workout/rehab spot year round. It's very reasonably priced so you may be able to find one near you.

I’m a retired nurse, 65.. 42 years of nursing plus five as a tech have given me bone on bone both knees and a hip that also needs to be replaced. I have 32 pounds to go to reach surgical goal of 39 BMI. It’s been such a struggle. ImMy goal is to continue after that and go back to jumping waves at the beach till My forever. Good luck to you !!! ❤️
