northernmusician's Journal, 03 August 2014

Morning friends, buddies, and everyone else I haven't met yet. It's a decent looking, smoke-filled day here in northern BC. Not a cloud in the sky - not that you can see it. So much smoke. It reminds me of when I lived down south in the Kootenay region of the province. That one was all summer. Then I remember the day Mt. St Helen's blew. It stayed so dark the streetlights were on all day. I think I was 300 miles from where it had been.

Monitoring food is now a routine. It's good. It's when you're not conscious of it that it bites back.

Do any of you have trouble with finishing projects? Yeah, I know. Weird post for today.

Take care. Watch your intakes. Remain conscious of your goals.

Anyone else think it's time for FS to take down the "There was an unexpected error..." notice and replace it with, "Yeah, we're working on it." :) It's really the only routine glitch on the site. It's a good site.

Finishing projects... A side of ADHD according to my therapist. Ah ha, yeppers, of course, yes. What's your point?

I write music as well, and I must have 7 songs partially written, or written and partially recorded, etc.... beyond the ADD, which I have in spades, is the fact that I need a deadline. When you just write for yourself, it is hard to find the dedication to finish things. I also have a problem with wanting to overcook everything I do. I always think "Well, maybe one more layer of strings" or "I should really redo those background vocals...." and I never get anything done. Now that I am retired, every day is "tomorrow". Knowing most of these songs will never be heard on a stage makes me not care. My real music years are well behind me. I refuse to play cover music so there is no band on my horizon unless I can find people who are willing to learn original music, work very hard at rehearsal, and not make any money doing it. Let me check my back door security camera real quick. Nope. Nobody lined up waiting to do that!

Know the smoke thing. In the spring we always say their trying to burn down the state. I'm allergic so it's especially fun for me. I lose my voice. As far as finishing I know exac

I buy books because I am excited about reading them, and never get around to reading them. Or I read part of it and then stop. Is it because I don't want to see the end of it? Or maybe I want to keep it for a time when I won't be disturbed by anyone else. Still putting it off.

I think that happens to a lot of us, it is just so much going on.
