crabby Kat's Journal, 17 June 2014

Woop Woop! I just entered my granola breakfast cookie recipe in my cookbook, and discovered that they have 85 calories a piece, not the 145 I've been recording. :o) They do make a good breakfast food, and I made them with my home made granola. I've eaten several over the past couple days. No wonder I lost more weight.

I've been working hard for it, so I'll feel good about myself for the upcoming Came Here To Party Tour Zumba event this Sunday. I was using a tooth-whitening toothpaste, too. Had to quit that, as the stuff was eating my mouth. I have bleaching trays...

I have a new outfit to wear, and the pants are snug. They may also be too warm for dancing in a ballroom surrounded by hundreds of sweaty people, so I could wear my black shorts with the purple top with flashy gold lettering. Still, I want to be ABLE to wear them, ;o)

I just read Bella's journal for today, and recognized myself in her words. I too wonder who I am, and realize that I am all about food. My cookbook is full of cookie, muffin, granola, and bread recipes, as well as nice healthy food dishes. I'm struggling with the desire to get up and make a batch of Trail Mix Cookies. Good healthy things, but really? I baked a loaf of whole wheat flax bread and have a crock pot full of Pork Hominy White Bean Chili simmering.

I love to share cookies with people, surprising them with different kinds of cookies or variations on a recipe. I trade cookies and muffins with friends who bring me home cooked beans, split pea soup, home canned fresh tuna, salmon, and home made jam. I have a gazillion cookbooks, and enjoy a series of mystery books that include cookie recipes (the heroine runs a cookie shop).

I love Zumba because it brings me joy. The music, and dancing, my body doing more than I ever imagined it could. It also burns plenty of calories, but it's a wonderful social connection that brings me out of myself. I now have more friends than I've had for a long time, and a few of them know my history and like me just as I am. I've enjoyed extending myself, stepping outside my comfort zone. Goes to show that you're never too old to learn and grow, and begin to really know yourself.

I keep hoping I'll find my 'thing' like cookies and Zumba. And I try to reassure myself that what I feel isn't unique ... that we all walk around as if we have more answers than questions. Some day I'm going to come see you and I expect cookies... LOL

Well, I couldn't pass it up - sounded yummy - so have added your recipe to my book. Thanks! I, too, like Zumba classes, but has to be a good instructor with good music. Haven't seen you here before so checked out your profile. You've done amazing!! Congrats on your weight loss! Hope I can achieve and maintain those results. Congrats on the recent loss - again!

We are all lost souls in some ways. You seem to do so well. We are all a work in progress. Wish I was closer to sample those cookies.
