Yesterday's entry (12th)
Weight upon waking up: 147.6 (so close to the goal of 147 by Sat!!)

Yesterday was great for the heart and soul-food, and bad for the diet and diet-food! I was on an emotional high, which got progressively higher through the course of the day. I had tried to plan the meals better, but was tired as I didnt have much sleep the previous night, so didnt get a chance to do my mornign workout. I'd still planned on doing a more intense one after coming home later at night. After work, I had to stop by a winetasting event, which turned out into a more fun evening and longer than i'd anticipated. Did some damage to my diet (as below), and even went for an after-drinks dinner (salad) even tho I had already had my dinner at 6.30pm BEFORE going to the winetasting, so as to be prepared for any casualities.

Meals:
coffee with cream (3)
almonds (2)
peanuts (4)
peanuts (4)
mock-chicken stir fry and salad (6?)

The bad: 2 glasses of wine (4 carbs),
Salad with blue cheese, blue cheese dressing, toasted pecans (2-3?)
and 1 pc of bread (12-15?)

Total: 38-42 carbs!!

Brag points:
1) Planned the day and the event better, and prepared for contingencies by eating well and on time right upto the event.
2) I started off right at the event and had only 1 glass of wine, and avoided all the great looking appetizers there or ordering any other food (I had had dinner before, so I was set!)
3) Avoided the chocolates at the beginning even though they were offered to me by several ppl, and were lying around all over the place looking decadent!
4) After the winetasting, when I conceded to going for dinner, I tried to do well by ordering a salad and with lower-carb option such as blue cheese instead of strawberry vinaigrette (my downfall was that 1 pc of measley bread I couldnt resist)
5) As promised to myself, I came home and got changed and ready to workout at 11.30 pm!!

The Bugs in the System:
1) Two bags of peanuts, while low in carbs, are not the best food options. Should have stopped at one.
2) Drinking one glass of wine is good. Having a little more starts to affect the resistance and ability to make good choices. I thought it was the ebullience and fun of the evenign that was to blame, but I think ultimately, it was the wine to blame the ensuing damage.
3) Damage: 1 more glass than I'd intended, 3 pieces of chocolates (finally caved!!), 1 pc of bread, and late-night dinner
4) NO WORKOUT after all!! (Tired from the lack of sleep, long day, and didnt feel like being good after the fun evening earlier).
5) Subliminal influence: I heard my friend talk about her pizza lunch, and instead of helping her get out of that mode, it appears that subconsciously, I let myself get influenced by that temptation of eating bad and not working out! I let myself a little off the hook coz my friend had!! No more of that! Cant afford to let my tight control slip even a little right now---doesnt matter what others do--I HAVE to stick to my own plan and promise!

Next time, I go to one of these things, I have to remind myself to be very firm. ONE GLASS OF WINE ONLY! No food absolutely. And no desserts whatsoever! And at least in these early days of induction, prevent temptations by cutting the night short, and returning home in 2-3 hrs so as to not feel any hunger pangs, or post-alcohol munchies.

The next day (i.e., today) has shown a 1 pd gain (could be from the peanuts, a little bit of a visit by Mr. C, or from the alcohol, or from the higher carbs), but I need to have a hard workout today!

Compared to some of your other nights on the town, this one was not so bad! :) Your chart is reflecting your new attitude and actions! Good for you!

I agree with amryk. Your self control is definitely showing improvement from times past. Rome wasn't built in a day so don't expect perfection straight out of the gate. Brag points earned for all the things you did right (and there were many!). A piece of bread, some peanuts and a tiny gain aren't enough to zero out the accumulated brag points. I love that you are finding ways to cope with your social events in a healthful way rather than the alternatives of either avoiding them (no fun and unrealistic because life is all about enjoying time with friends and family) or giving into them completely (sabotaging weight loss efforts and having residual negative effect on your body and frame of mind). Good job!
