If I never went to any social events I think I would do pretty well with my diet. This weekend we went to a rehearsal dinner, a wedding, and a party: Fri, Sat, Sun. I'm not complaining about that, but I seem to have no will power at events where there is food I shouldn't eat. I'm okay when I'm at home or at work where I don't stock much that I shouldn't eat. Any good strategies?

I have the same problem. I try to eat before I go but that doesn't always stop me from splurging. Dance alot so you'll stay away from the tables and burn the calories???? :)

Hey there! Ya, it is tough when you have those kind of situations. I usually make a mental note to not let ANY of the food I put on my plate touch each other...I'm not a freak that way or anything...just that I seem to put much less on my plate and when I'm done with that I put my napkin right on the plate and that's it. I also try to distract myself with talking to the other guests. I like KellyBo's idea of dancing alot...I do that for sure! Have a good one!

I struggle with this too. I think eating before you go is good advice if it prevents you from over-eating at the event. For me it's drinking. Not that I'm a big lush or something, but will have a beer or two at events like that and those add up. I find that having a drink (selzer water or something inoculous like that) that I carry around with me helps. Of course, the dancing a lot is a good idea too. :)

For me it's more the eating off schedule when I have a busy event filled calendar. I agree with others here that eating before you go can help, but only if it stops you from eating there. I find if I eat earlier and allow myself some wine there, I'm done eating, but the wine get's me loopy which isn't always a good thing. We pick our battles huh? Let us know what you find that works for you.

It's wedding season! There's not getting around it, that's for sure. I find that the drinks contribute to my overeating. If I haven't had anything to drink, it's easy to keep control. But once I have had 2 glasses of wine, all willpower has been taken over and I cheat all over the place. If I'm really trying to keep things under control, I don't have any wine.
