For those who have had IdontcarebecauseIwantitandIamgoingtoeatit events, I am curious how you DIDN'T go off plan after you entered that mindset. I mean, have you ever been in a red zone and left peacefully?

It was good to talk with work buddies yesterday, even though we spent most of our time commiserating.

My technique is to have a planned "cheat" day where I allow up to a 200 calorie surplus once a week. I'm still in a 500 calorie deficit the rest of the week so it all adds up in the end. Helps keep those cravings down and gives you a little break once and a while.

This just got my attention. When I am on diet mode and want to eat something naughty and just HAVE TO HAVE IT I go ahead and eat it and then consume far less calories for the rest of the day. Then I can grudgingly blame the cheater treat all day for making me suffer. Or if it's at the end of my day I just call it a cheat day (I allow myself random cheat days a few times a month) and eat extra healthy the next day. Ok getting even more dizzy, no more typing for me, back to bed.

My plan::: I can eat anything I choose to. Mostly healthy and even out at as 1400 calories over a week. When I was losing 1200 over a week. I aim for heathy veggies and fruits a bit of animal protein, no processed. If I go over or off my plan just adjust;;; No guilt, no cheat day, simply my plan.

For me (and my VERY recent sugar addiction detox journey), it hasn't been just one method of staying on plan, I've found. It was several. In the beginning during the first three or four days of detox, it was the thought of "I can't give in so soon, how pathetic would I be if I did that after so short a time. It's only been a few days for pete's sake, get a hold of yourself"! Kind of like the mental equivalent of a tough love talk, arguing with myself. After those few days, when the nausea, headaches/migraines, fatigue - you know, all the full-blown withdrawal symptoms kicked into high gear, the ONLY things keeping me from giving in to my constant cravings was my absolute fear of completely destroying every single step of progress I had made, and forcing myself to go through it all over again starting right back at square one. That fear, and my daily (sometimes hourly) visits to this site, just reading the comments and support from everyone here. That support and accountability helped keep me determined not to let any of us down. It was funny, but I wanted to make you guys proud when one day I could come here and say, "You know what? You were right! I hung in there, and I did it. No... WE did it!" Funny how what is in fact a bunch of strangers can become some of your greatest allies! :)

I'm not particularly kind to myself when I have those gottahaveitnow moments and beat myself up a bit when I give in. Safest for me is not to have anything particularly temptalicious in the house. If I don't bring it home, I don't eat it. Sometimes I do substitutions ( I.e. No lunch, but have a hot chocolate and a scone).

I keep telling myself that I won't taste that sweet dessert any longer than I taste a piece of broccoli. The fleeting pleasure is not worth the lasting effects. It usually works.
