UK cats's Journal, 23 June 2016

OK, does anyone else have this problem? I hit a plateau for a week, then drop 1.5 pounds overnight. I'd much rather lose a little consistently than stay the same weight for what seems like forever but I'm not complaining. I will enjoy the loss no matter how it comes about :-)

Recognize that you have to burn about 3500 calories to lose one lb. While it may seem that you are not making any progress for several days, it just takes that long for the accumulated loss to be measurable on the scale. That's one reason why some people say not to weigh every day, and other prefer to use measurements rather than just the scale to track their progress. Either way, as you say, enjoy the loss, however you are able to see it!! Good job!

You may find this is just your pattern to weight loss. On the Atkins site there was a woman who regularly would lose a bunch at once, then gain a lb or so, then lose a bunch again. She lost a lot of weight and that's how it proceeded the whole time. I've read that the cells can retain a little water for a time after the fat has been burned, then they will release the water. This might be an explanation for the strange progress of weight loss. Bodies don't really conform well to mathematical formulas as there is always a hormonal component to contend with.

It may be your bodies natural weight loss rhythm. As long as you chart has a mostly downward line, you are doing well.

UK Cats it's normal. Sometimes I hit up to two week plateau every month, then the weight comes off towards the end of the month.
