debrafrederick's Journal, 22 November 2014

Hi guys! I just spent a little time studying my Food Diary for the month and my daily average calories are 994, I guess combined with my 2 fasting days per week and the fact that I am am feeling full before I finish my food and I am really not hungry, I am having to make myself try to get up to my RDI, and sometimes I managed to go a little over and still it has not driven my daily average up to 1,000 a day. My questions is, is this a bad thing? My energy levels are up, up, up! I feel great, I am taking a multi-vitamin and a vitamin D supplement right now. My daily macro levels are kinda where they are supposed to be I copied my journal from the day I set my new RDI

My new macros are:

67% fat - 827 kcal - 92g
25% protein - 313 kcal - 78g
8% carbs - 100 kcal - 25g

For this month so far my macro's are averaged at:

75% Fat
20% Protein
5% Carbs

I am losing weight, feeling healthy and energetic. My blood pressure has returned to normal. I'm not wanting to crawl into bed the minute I get home from work. I feel like moving around so my exercise routine is not a chore, so I am wondering if I should make changes and make myself eat more, or keep doing what I am doing and listen to my body and when it demands more give it? I have not felt this good in a long time and my lean is towards don't rock the boat. Anyone got any input?

If your feeling great and losing weight I would say to stay on your same routine. It seems to be working for you.

I am in agreement with you "don't rock the boat"! And I too find that the less I eat the better I feel :) Many tell me the same thing that Bill says: surprised at the high energy & think an increase in cal's will come. To be honest I think those comments tend to cause me uncertainty as to what I'm doing because the ones saying them seem so certain of what they are talking about. When I realize my state of confusion I remind myself that everyone is different & no one knows me better than me.That calms me & then because I do believe that others know what they are talking about I try to find something from their words that I can test out to see if it applies to me. More times than not I do! :) But your comments make me wonder about your height. Would you be under 5"4"? I am 5"2". At the moment I'm "investigating" reports on people who are shorter than 5'4" & their recommended eating/exercise patterns.

Good for you! The only caution is that you can go too low in your calorie intake-- that your body will go into stravation mode... which it will save all of the fat that it can.. but if you are comfortable with your intake.. keep going!

I'm thinking that I will have to increase my intake too, a little farther up the road as my fat stores are depleted, I am going to trust that my body is working properly and it will let me know when I need more. I have noticed that the day before, or the day after my fasting days I tend to be hungrier and I eat more, usually those days I don't have to work at reaching my RDI and I even run past it a bit. I have been doing the fasts on Tuesday and Friday and I feel like I have settled into it and my body prepares for it, then works to recover. I can't really describe it, it's more like a craving for meat, so I add another serving of meat to one of my meals. I have a lot of body fat and I did test with ketosticks finally and it shows me at a moderate amount of ketones, three tests in one week came in at the same results so I am consistent with production. Unlike previous attempts to lose weight, I am measuring my weight loss with more than the scale and instead of sitting around feeling deprived and wishing I could eat this or that, I am paying attention to how I feel and how I feel is good. I baked bread today for hubby, it smelled so good, but I did not have any regret about not eating any of it. In my head right now is a set of scales and it measures the way I will feel if I eat that against how I will feel if I don't. The don'ts win and my brain does not quibble, just accepts and moves on to other things. That right there, the being able to just allow the temptation to roll right on by without a struggle or a second thought is wonderful.....
