sheila 1966's Journal, 22 October 2014

Hello I am having some struggles this week, I am waking up at night which is normal with sleep apnea but waking up starving. I will eat a few grapes or something. I guess this is the time i shld try and drink water to somehow get past this. I have been referred to a neurosurgeon that will put in my pain pump In my lower lumbar. This will soon have me up and around I cant wait. I End my days crying in so much pain in my back, neuropathy in legs. Debra says when she is hungry she drinks water, that is willpower. I will go to dietician tomorrow with bariatric surgeon in preparation for that surgery. Those of you losing all this weight gives me hope making me think there is a future within my grasp. God has brought me this far By his grace I am made whole. Thank you I was telling people what a great supportive group yall are. God bless Sheila :)

Never had that hunger problem before, but a personal trainer told me 15 years ago, if I got hungry between scheduled feedings, I should drink 1 or 2 glasses of ICE WATER... don't ask me why. I never had to implement, but you might give it a shot.

Hey Sheila! Good luck on your procedures hopefully they will give you a better quality of life. I only have true hunger hit on my fasting days and then it only hits when my nose detects the smell of cooking food, the rest of the time I do not have any starving feelings. The percentage of fat and protein in my daily intake leaves me satisfied. I get busy during the day and I forget to drink water, on those days I have noticed that while I don't get growling noises in my stomach, I feel empty and want something....never sure what, so I drink water and it goes away. I think we sometimes mistake dehydration, or thirst for hunger. Our bodies tell us what it needs, we just don't know exactly what it wants sometimes and we give it the wrong thing. I put a quart mason jar next to my bed filled with ice and if I wake up during the night I take a sip of water. I have noticed also when I am losing water weight that I have to urinate at least twice during the night and I feel slightly dry, so I sip water while I am out of bed and I usually go right back to sleep. Our bodies are amazing machines, just like with babies, you have to learn what the crying really means before you can resolve the problem.
