I was just thinking about how we see a food and it triggers that, "I gotta eat it now!" response even though we were nit even thinking of food a minute before. I remembered something I heard years ago from a lady in a weight watchers group. She said when she has that craving response she tells herself this... that (fill in the blank food) is not going to fall off the face of the earth. It will be available to eat, tomorrow, next week, and even next month. What's the hurry? Slow down!

Yes exactly. You WILL GET TO EAT AGAIN! Everyday, in fact. Once I began allowing myself to eat every day, regardless of weight (I restricted to punish myself for binging, regardless of purging behavior... not good) it was eye opening and a few years of this promise to myself, and I’m happy to say I don’t have a craving anymore for anything, that I don’t get triggered, because I never starve myself, physically or mentally. Does that make sense?

Yes that makes sense. I try to avoid thise split second decisions that cause be to eat things I know I shouldn't but tell myself it will be okay to eat those things at a later, planned time. First week of each new month I alone a little craziness without stress. If I plan ahead and make calorie room then it's now a cheat.

I gotcha! And WTG for planning and taking those foods off the pedestal! Take away its power you assign it by prescribing it as your antidote 👍🏻

I used to cycle through binges with chocolate and Little Debbies. It consumed hours of my day, and when I went into a treatment facility the physician and dietitian ordered that I eat a quarter cup of M&Ms every meal. They allowed for these calories to be a part of that plan, I didn’t blow up like a house like I thought I would, and it did eventually take the allure of chocolate candy away for me.

That is what I am trying to live by now - I don't need to buy tons of groceries and then have to eat them all before they go off because they will be at the grocery store whenever I want them!
