My ‘diet’ started out as just that. I plan to go back to eating the junk I enjoy but in moderate amounts. I have slowly stared working some in to test myself as I reverse diet.

However I was looking for a bedtime snack and a few things happened that took me by surprise. I went to get a snickers. I’d saved up my calories for it after all and 1)I checked my macros to see if I had enough protein today. I didn’t even consciously think about it, just checked. Something a month ago I’d have sworn I’d never do. 2) I went to the kitchen and decided I’d have a protein shake instead. This is HUGE because it told me I LIKE my body fortress cookies and cream shakes almost as much as my snickers! 3) instead of grabbing a 90-100 calorie snack bar I grabbed beef jerky just in case the shake wasn’t enough and I still needed something a bit more filling.

The last may not seem like much but I did it without thinking about it. I’ve consciously been keeping certain foods in sight or in reach so I made better choices. This time I didn’t think just grabbed it with the thought I might still be hungry. NOT that it was a better choice. Perhaps more of my diet is turning into a lifestyle change than I thought :). And I’m okay with it 👌. I’ve now drank 50% of the shake while typing and it’s satisfying to once again eat while doing something else and still subconsciously use portion control.

Thanks :). I’m starting to notice the small victories. Once the kids will be in school I can veg out on chicken fajitas every day for lunch! I find I do better with my lunch 200-400, dinner 400-600 and two snacks 50-500(protein shakes are 240ish each). I’m a numbers person so really enjoying trying to find meal combos that will allow for a treat or a protein shake on days that I don’t need a shake but want one :). It’s people like you that help me a lot through your own posts 😁

step by step and glad you are breaking up your day in a way that gives you more pleasure. keeping the pleasure button happy makes for keeping you comfortable.
