Runescrift's Journal, 19 June 2018

I am done. Finished. Two years and zero progress. I’m tired of stressing, I’m tired of waking up early to go to the gym, I’m tired of feeling guilty for allowing myself a donut every now and then, I’m just tired. I have resigned to the fact that I will always be this weight. I have nothing more to give. I’m throwing in the towel. Tomorrow I start my new life of simply maintaining. I had a goal...one that seemed attainable at one point. I don’t see it anymore and that is ok.
175.0 lb Lost so far: 0 lb.    Still to go: 15.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Diet Calendar Entry for 19 June 2018:
1990 kcal Activities & Exercise: Fitbit - 24 hours. more...
gaining 1.0 lb a week

Hang in there. I would love to be at your weight! I am almost 100 pounds over that. Don't let a bad day turn into a bad week, month, year..etc..you'll find your groove again.

You were headed downhill and then... straight up. What happened on May 13? Something must have triggered you and you ate... and ate. Maybe not a lot, but maybe things that weren't good for your weight loss goals. I get it. It's why I'm heading to 160... again... trying my damnedest to get into the 150s so that my eventual goal looks even remotely realistic. Here's an idea that my friend is using: https://brightlineeating.com/ She's following the plan and has lost 40 pounds. One of the main points is don't exercise right off the bat! It's HARD to focus and lose weight. People who think it's easy aren't on this site needing our level of support! This author says focus on the food, the goals, and your life, THEN add in the exercise. Food for thought, right?

PLEASE don't give up. .....and try Overeaters Anonymous or Food Addicts Anonymous in Recovery....most of us on this site are addicted to food in the same way alcoholics and drug addicts are addicted to substances..there are answers out there and there is help...we need more that just a diet or new food plan. Obesity and food addiction are medical issues and we need help....good kills us through hypertension, heart disease, stroke, cancer, etc...and despair...agajn....get help..drop a dime or go on either of these organization',s websites....good kills more people in this country than cigarettes...way more..

I've always heard... you can't out train or outrun a bad diet. It will always get you. SoCalPam is exactly right. I have started the weight loss trail SO many times. This time is different. I have not worked out bc of my limited time and resources. However, I've focused on what works for me and my new life/ way of eating for health. That mindset, I believe, is the biggest factor in the results I've seen so far. Hang in there. Small steps equal HUGE results. Don't be so hard on yourself. You are human amd doughnuts are so good. However, think of it as finding your new life. It's a way to become a new you but how you need to live. Find what works for you. You are worth every little change you make and step you take toward your goal. Set small goals along the way. That leads to a huge accomplishment in the end. I wish you all the best and pray you find your new groove. 1 change, not even a day, but a week may be the key. Don't stay strong and wear yourself out in the beginning. It's a marathon. Keeping the comfortable pace is the way to go. Stop and smell the roses every once in a while and you will find yourself so much happier. Focus on you and how you feel with each change. I've had to go with that mindset and it works.

and by stop and smell the roses, don't be hard on yourself and allow a small cheat like a doughnut every once in a while.

Hey don't loose heart!! Keep going 175 is not so far away from where you want to be. Things to think about.. it doesn't seem like you record your food entries.. believe it or not I wasn't too strict about that at first. But really it helps so much in your mindfulness of your choices and also watching what works and triggers results. You really should get on board with that if you're serious. It takes a bit of work, but being lazy about it won't help you. Plus, you say you're eating healthy, but are you really being careful on portion sizes? Many of us just eat portions that are just way out of control. Look to half portion sizes at all meals and eat really slow chewing 8-10 times per bite. You will see you will learn to feel full way earlier, and recognise it. When this happens stop eating, never feel the need to finish! In fact, now I make a meal and box it up into four... and save the rest for laters. I am eating a quarter!! You can tell yourself ... I will wait half an hour if I still feel hungry its there. Guess what 8 times our of 10 you will not feel hungry if you wait. Also drink more water, at least a pint before any mealtime. Build it in in the hour before. Sleep more, make sure you get 7+ hours full sleep. Sleep generated hormones help regulate your weight. Do not stress and worry, mediate be mindful and trust it will happen just keep going.... and build in activities you love to do not just the chores like gym. Ie get dancing or set a goal ie 5km run and practice with friends/colleagues get them to do it with you.. Change up your life put make it social and fun not all hard work.... as hard work equals stress and stress prevents weight loss too. You can do this, just change up a couple of small things.. trust in your efforts and make it more fun!! Test yourself by learning a new exciting meal each week :) Get the fun in. Put this down to one bad day!! Best of luck x

Thanks everyone. Bad bad day yesterday. I work out six days a week, alternate cardio, weights. Have a few drinks and allow a cheat day but dont over do it. I was able to lose but only when I ate very little, 1200 calories. I Increased my calories and up the weight went again even with continued exercise. Over the years I’ve tried low carb, high fat, no carb, no fat, weight watchers, juicing. Except for the low carb none are realistic for me. I want to eat healthy, have a beer or a drink or a donut dammit every now and then. I just have yet to find the balance. I’ve been stuck in the 170’s for two years now and it’s just very discouraging. Thanks again all for being here and your supportive words.

Hi! Don't give up, please? Think of it this way...if you had not been on this W.O.E. how much more would your numbers be up? At least you are able to say you've maintain your weight even, though you have not shed those last few pounds. See? You're still a WINNER!!!

When I get discouraged, I check out some of the many folks on here who have lost 100s of pounds. Nothing like reading the story of a 300# woman squeezing into compression shorts and panting through a mile walk on 600 calories a day in the heat of August to put my bullsh^t into perspective.

Runescrift I hear you, that was me 2 years and 11 months ago. I was a pretty active guy but just couldn't seem to shed some fat pounds that had been piling on over the years, no matter what diet I tried (although did have success for a couple of years doing Atkins in my early forties). A health scare (pre-diabetes) and a suggestion from a friend brought me here. While I am far from perfect and for sure don't have everything figured out, the information, support and calorie counting tools have been instrumental in losing the extra fat pounds and keeping them off. Stay with it, you owe it to your future self!!
