So this is my first thought out journal entry, but I wanted to pen out my thoughts since I am about halfway to my goal! Starting back in June 2011 I was using the site on and off to track my calories but I didn’t really stick with it, and I was yo-yoing with my weight. In November we had some changes to our health insurance, and even though I knew I needed to lose some weight it was a kick in the pants I needed to log all my food everyday; with only a few exceptions since then! In February I was given a gym membership, and started working out with a personal trainer twice a week. Talk about kicking my but! I was scheduled to do the 5K Color Run in March, but woke up at 3 a.m. that morning having a Gallbladder attack (thought I was dying). This was really scary, and even though I had been losing weight and was eating better I still wasn’t putting the kinds of things into my body that it needed to be putting in. I started adding more fruits, veggies, fiber and whole grains and reading labels better. Now my saturated fat is super low, no trans fat at all, and I am getting the good mono and poly unsaturated fats that my body needed. I am feeling so much better physically and mentally, and wanted to put my success story on here to help motivate other people who are looking to get started, continue or pick up where they left off!

November – Start Weigh 188 lbs
December – Tracked food, but not weight.
January – Tracked food, think weight was 180 lbs, down 8 lbs since Nov 2011. (8.0)
February – Got a scale! Down 1.2 pounds for the month to 178.8! (9.2)
March – Down 4.6 more pounds for the month to 174.2 lbs! (13.8)
April – Down 2.2 more pounds for the month to172.0 lbs! (16.0)
May – Down 4.8 more pounds for the month to 167.2! (20.8)
June – Down 2 more pounds for the month to 165.2! (22.8)

I set myself a goal of 140 lbs, which was a total of 48 pounds to lose. I am now down 22.8 pounds and I only have 25.2 more pounds to lose! I haven’t been losing anything superfast, and it can be easy to be discouraged when you see you are only losing 2 – 4 pounds each month. That isn’t how I look at . . . I am not here to lose weight - - I am changing my life for the better step by step by making healthier choices! Weight lose is just an added bonus.

My goal for the second half is to continue what I have been doing, but to add more exercise and work on body fat percentage and increasing muscle. Starting in July I want to tape so that I have another measure to gauge my progress! Good luck to everyone else out there who is making the journey with me!
