It's a beautiful sunny summer day out today!! I took my 3 month old black lab puppy for a walk last night, and realized that I work alot more muscles trying to keep him from pulling me around than on a regular walk. Which is awesome! I think I will try to make that a daily thing. Last night we walked a mile and Tucker handled it fine and so did I. Maybe someday we will even go farther. I am really looking forward to this weekend. We are having a surprise birthday party for my mom's 70th birthday. It doesn't seem possible. She's in very good health yet, and one of my best friends. We talk daily, and most of the time she keeps me saine. I work with children and she's my adult conversation. Don't get me wrong, sometimes she drives me to the point that I want to bang the phone on the wall, but not very often. I don't think she's ever had a surprise party, so it's gonna be great!!

I have one week to get packed for our family vacation and I'm super excited about that too. Most people I talk to say they couldn't handle spending a week with their siblings families and their parents, but we go to a lake and have boats so I can get away from everyone if I need too, or put the one driving me crazy in a boat and send them out. Lol

For the most part, I'm back on track, but wondering to a certain extent what my RDI should be. Fatsecret has me at 2700 calories, and I've been trying to stay around 1200. I think they are both extremes and maybe I should try somewhere around 1700. Thats what I go with for the next week, and then the week of vacation I'm hoping to just maintain and watch what I eat without tracking absolutely everything.
We will see, I have a game plan if I just stick to it maybe I can even manage a small loss that week.

Hope everyone has a great sunshiney weekend!!

Glad to hear things are going well! I ADORE labs (we have a chocolate wonder puppy, age 9) and I'll bet he gets a LOT of attention while you're out on walks. My hubby used to call Mia (when she was a puppy) his "chick-magnet". Ha! Try a snout loop to prevent pulling - it doesn't hurt them OR your shoulders. It was the only thing that worked with my yellow beagle/lab mix. Also wanted to comment on your RDI. You and I have similar weight profiles - I started 5 pounds higher than you, I'm now 208, and my goal is 3 pounds more than yours (153). When I had FS calculate my RDI (I'm 5'6" and age 35, and I work from home in front of the computer), I told it I was "sedentary" because I hadn't been working out. It calculated 2100kcal/day to maintain; 1800 to lose 1 lb/week. I aimed, instead, for 1500ish (and I'm averaging that on a daily basis) and my doctor confirmed that's OK. Now, althought my FS calculations show me with an average calorie deficit of ~1500 per day, I am not losing weight at 3 lbs/week... it's more like just under 2 lbs/week. So my conclusion is that I'm getting too much credit for exercise, and probably just underestimating food as well. That said, I would suggest you consider aiming for 1500ish--it seems that 1200 is the lowest advisable number, but I don't want you to end up slowing your metabolism or losing muscle. One thing that helps me is going back over my food & exercise logs and looking for trends. Wishing you well!!
