Well it's Thursday, my last official day at work before my vacations and I am super excited.... and also really nervous but I will get into that in a minute... I wanted to shared that I am completely fascinated with juicing now. I think it is amazing! Yesterday I watched a documentary called Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead about a guy named Joe Cross who went on a 60 day juice fast and lost 82 pounds... if you have not already seen, it you HAVE to check it out, truly inspiring! Visit www.jointhereboot.com to watch the movie for free.

So... vacation...nervous... ANXIETY!!! I leave for Vegas early sunday morning and I'm experiences a bit of anxiety because of what happened on my last vacation (I totally relapsed and gained 36 pounds!!) I don't want to be on this vacation contantly thinking about all the things I shouldn't eat, that's gonna suck big time. Why is moderation so difficult for me?? It's like once I get a taste, this hungry beast inside me just takes over and before I know it, I'm miserable and can't buttom my pants. I don't want to live my life in repair mode. Binging and then detoxing... it's not healthy. It's just as mentally draining as being obese.

I have to find my balance, a way to be healthy and still enjoy life and food and everything else in between. When people call weight loss a journey... man, I tell you that it most definitely is.

Wish me the best... I will try to get another journal in before I leave, at least to document my pre-vacation weight.

That movie is wonderful! I was inspired by it as well. Going on vacation is hard. Prioritize the things that you want to eat the most. If you can find time to get in any extra exercise you will feel better about the occasional poor food choice. My best advice about Vegas, stay away from buffets!! Whenever I am at a buffet I feel like I need to eat/try everything simply because it is there. Pick one thing that you looove and surround it with healthy choices :) I wish you the best!!

I just watched that movie too! I loved it. BUT then I thought about the overall concept - he is taking in only about 800 kcal/day and that's far too low for a body to stay healthy. And health is my goal. Also, juicing takes a lot of the fiber out of the food. So I'm doing green smoothies in my blender: 2 c spinach, juice from a fresh lime, 1 cup frozen fruit. I add a cup of Dymatize Whey Protein Isolate for a good boost of protein and only 125 more calories. I've been doing this almost every weekday lunch for 2 months and it feels great! For your vacation - I hear you! Every time I travel my calories go up, up, up. Perhaps you can choose indulgences like steak, shrimp, crab and fresh berries that aren't so bad, but taste amazing? (Belive me, I'm a carb-nivore, and adore anything made with refined white flour and freshly baked.) Here's to staying on track. You can do this!
