Rebecca1705's Journal, 18 January 2018

Hello to all Fat Secret friends,
On Monday, Jan 15, I had a Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy done. Psychologically feeling awesome, physically sore as can be in my stomach area! I spent one night in the hospital without any complications and was sent home late afternoon the following day.
Things went smoothly and I had excellent nurses taking care of me.
I thought once I got home within 24 hours I should be able to take care of my self however, I struggled getting up and sitting down on my own and laying down. with assistance from my wonderful adult daughter got everything squared up. She's helping me to make sure that I am on target with staying hydrated, taking meds and vitamins, and doing my breathing exercises.
I did about 50 hours worth of research and study pre-op so that I would be assured that I am on top of everything that this entails post-surgery which included a lot of reading and learning how much and what I can and can't eat and do. this surgery forces me to only be able to sip liquids so it's a real challenge to constantly sip sip sip to get in a minimum of 40 oz of fluid daily so needless to say I spend the majority of my time and effort on consuming those 40 oz of liquid in a day. You would think it wouldn't be that hard to take in 40 oz of liquid but if I take too much at one time I'm saying more than a quarter of a teaspoon at a time it causes pain. Overall doing very well and feeling really good. My goals today are to consume a minimum of 60 oz of liquid protein and 18 oz of water plus vitamins and medications. I'm feeling wonderful and very pleased with my progress. THANKS for listening I hope everyone has a wonderful day.
