edithcaldwell's Journal, 28 June 2017

For some reason, I cannot seem to do right. I have lost a total of 80 lbs over the last five years. However, now I am stuck and for the last four months I have gained and lost - staying within a five pound range.

I was told that I needed to change what I eat, in that I eat the same thing every morning; and changing will jump start the weight loss. I tried that, but it still hasn't worked.

I am already on a low-carb, high protein eating plan, but evidently it isn't low or high enough. My doctor tells me to eat no more than 1200 calories a day, but counting calories has been a real challenge, especially since I make a lot of stews (meat and vegetable), and soups, or snack on seeds nuts.

Nevertheless, I am not discouraged, just a little discombobulated (sp?)

You have done an amazing job! Not knowing the rest of your plan, I can only suggest what I've read. According to the experts, you've reached a new set-point for your body. Do you walk/exercise ? Try to up the number of steps/ reps. Add just a little in the carbs department (whole grains?)

Great job. My manager told me whenever she hit a plateau during her weight loss challenge she would have cheat meal for a day sometimes two, and then continued her regular weight loss plan. She swears is helped her over this bump. Good luck.

I do exercise. I go to the gym and take a aqua Zumba class a couple of times a week. It is over 110 degrees here and walking outside is a no-no, walking the treadmill at the gym is challenging because I use a cane when I walk, and the treadmill is not conducive for the use of a cane. I will try the "cheat day" and see how it works for me. I also think I've reached a plateau, and will continue the current eating plan.
