5.5 lbs! I actually started SB on 10/15 at 146.2 lbs. I just started posting on 10/22. So on Monday it will be 3 weeks on Phase I. I'm afraid to start introducing different foods into my diet, so if anyone can give me some ideas of what to eat next week that would be great.

Today for Breakfast and Lunch I had Quiche (I posted this recipe, but it is waiting approval). For dinner I had mashed cauliflower (my daughter came home from college and ate my steak : ( I have no desire to cook so I'll probably have some ricotta cheese with vanila and equal and maybe some almonds. AND...Wine!

Awesome! Wow! As far as what to add, I've been looking at the glycemic index on different foods at that site I like: http://www.southbeach-diet-plan.com/ I am going to look through that and see out of the carbs I get to introduce now, which I want the most and which of those are lowest on the glycemic index. Just an idea? Fantastic job, I am so happy for you!

the biggest thing you can do when starting phase 2 is to eat the right amounts of food...i did the same thing and stopped losing...when i started eating again...actually grazing all day...my weight stop fluctuating (sp?)...funny coming from me...but eat your veggies...lol...there are many recipes out there that you do not have to "cook" for...use them...and munch all day...good luck...you could have had the steak...it is approved on all levels...

my advice is start introducing carbs slowly. Like, one serving a day... to see how it goes. I think I figured out what meal I really wanted to have carbs in and then just had something there (like wheat toast with breakfast or some brown rice at dinner or something). Otherwise, I stayed with a general phase 1 approach for a week or two more until I felt like I knew how my body would react to re-introducing carbs. (My husband called it phase 1.5 since I was so slow to reintroduce other foods). The danger is if you start adding in new food at every meal then it's easy to have too much and you don't quite know what is causing problems. No matter what, your weight loss will slow down, but it's worth it to not have to stay on phase 1 forever. :) Good luck!

I agree with Herbie, as I think we added too much too soon first time around - hence the slowing down of any weight loss (for my son, who was following it more than me). Think it was boredom rather than anything - but with all these lovely recipes here we cant go wrong! Slow and steady is the best way.

The article I read and posted here, said to introduce 1 new carb a week until you see how it effects you. That is the way to see which agree and work with you. I had food intolerances and until this diet I had no idea that pork bothered me. On day 16 I had a pork chop (I stuck to very lean meats, mostly fish on phase 1) and my stomach felt full and bloated and a bit achy. That didn't happen once on the other meats. Now I can rule that one out. I believe thats what wer're suppsed to do with teh carbs; introduce 1 per week, see how our bodies and weight are effected by it after a few days. Then when you know all is good, then you may add another. Everyone is different and likes different methods but that one makes the most sense to me and I'll try that way. I think you'll be just fine, you're very smart and you're listening to your body. Thats what this is all about!
