I am not counting calories but I am making healthier choices and using smaller portions. I aim to maintain a slight hunger all the time.
I am 62 years old and have an autoimmune condition that was dominating my life and causing dangerous breathing problems at night. I knew if I wanted to celebrate a 70th birthday, I had to change my ways. Dropping dairy was easy, I had a relentless, full-body cough and knew there was a link between milk products and mucous production.
After a few days of turning my back on cheese and carbs, I 'treated' myself to bread and butter. I found I hated it! I stuff myself with fresh fruits and vegetables and live mainly on hummous wraps. Dinner usually consists of frozen skinless chicken breasts thrown into a wok and browned, with rice, liquid and whatever flavorings I dig out of the cupboard. Eating pasta with a meat-based sauce has proven harmless.
