greyfit's Journal, 15 July 2016

So I'm at 189.6 pounds.

A few years ago I was around 220 and I lost 30 pounds over the course of around 3 months mainly due to exercise, I probably did eat less but I definitely didn't manage my diet like I'm doing now. So I got down to 190 and then went away to college and life was just extremely busy and stressful and I couldn't exercise like how I had been doing in the previous months. I gained back that weight over the years in college and at my heaviest I was probably around 240 I think.

I started my fatsecret logging when I weighed around 202. I lost that college weight over the course of a year or two just by eating less fatty foods and some occasional exercise. Then I stalled around 202; my exercise wasn't making as much of a difference as it had and then I realized with the help of my girlfriend that I needed to be more serious about my weight loss to get to my goal weight, to where I'd be comfortable with how I looked.

Previously I'd tried apps like MyFitnessPal but it seemed so tedious and I never stuck with it. I don't know what it was about fatsecret but it just clicked with me. I bought a food scale and started calculating my calories for meals and making sure in advance that I wouldn't go over my calorie budget.

So with my new weight loss, I set the weight of 190 as a kind of little milestone, previously it was where my weight loss stalled all those years ago during my last attempt, and I wanted to kind of look at 190 as me picking up where I last left off, but this time things will be much different. Now I have a different lifestyle with the way I calculate and monitor my calories, and I won't let myself slip back into my past ways.

So starting on June 6th when I first started using fatsecret, weighing in at 202.4 pounds, to today, July 15th, weighing in at 198.6 pounds, I've finally passed that 190 threshold. And that's great, and now the journey continues.
