I have dieted on and off for years. I'm 63 years of age. My weight got up to 19 stone 9 1bs stone in September 2003 and my wife left me in Jan 2004( I caught her cheating on me )and I chucked her out twice before my temper cooled. I then missed her badly and lost weight through it getting down to 14st 9 1bs. ( a loss of 5 stone plus 1 wife )
I have been up to 20 stone and down to 17 stone 10 1bs recently.
My problem is occasionally I binge on chocolates ,biscuits etc always conning myself that this and that will be for tomorrow etc and then look round at the empty wrapping papers, crisp packets, usually after having nodded off with a fuel induced sleep (nature wanting me to pile the pounds back on?) When I'm good ( right now ) I bicycle about 45 minutes a day on the canal towpath, I do 20 second bursts of full out go-for-it. I get sweated up and breathing heavy and am 252 1bs or 18 stone, now and actually feel quite fit despite having a 44 inch waist, and being 5 foot 5 inch tall.
If I buy something nice -its gone same day usually. Next day for sure. Yesterday I eat 10 chilli wraps which wrecked my 350 calorie sweet n sour meal.
I'm losing weight but slowly, around 1 lb every 2 weeks.
