Yeah, yeah. It looks like I'm crazy, aiming to gain 1/2 pound a week. Actually I am pregnant, so that's what I
should be gaining--or thereabouts. I am using FatSecret more to track nutrients at this point. I'll be focusing on weight loss in a year or so once I'm not breastfeeding fulltime.
The main concepts of the Brewer diet are these:
-A minimum of 2600 calories per day.
-80-120 grams of protein per day
-Salt intake to taste
There are also several other nutritional goals to meet, such as 2 eggs per day, so many whole grains, so much dairy, and so many items that provide certain vitamins, etc. The goal is to eat much nutrient-dense food as possible. The diet has been shown to prevent a variety of pregnancy-related complications. It goes against most mainstream advice out there today, but is quite possible among advocates of natural childbirth.
