Jean's Fit Again!

It's starting to get cold out again and I have been really dreading the cold this year, not for any other reason but the fact that over the summer I put on even more weight and my jeans don’t fit me anymore! I was so discussed and so down on myself that I hid them away at the bottom of my dresser and vowed to where my capri's and shorts (that are a bigger size and fit me)until I absolutely couldn't handle the cooler temperatures anymore. Well that is until I put my foot down and started working on the "rebirth" of myself.

Last night I tried on my favorite jeans and ... they fit! I didn’t think I had lost enough to make that happen yet but it turns out I did! What a great feeling! I have a few pairs of pants that I haven't been able to fit into for the past couple of years but I know I will be fitting them again very soon! What an amazing feeling!

I have been fat for way too long and I have also dieted for way too long. Diets don't work but being fat doesn't either. So what are you suppose to do? That's why this time I am approaching everything differently! I'm not just counting my calorie intake; I am making all around healthier food choices. If I choose to eat the healthy choice 9 times out of 10 then I will not be hard on myself when that 1 out of 10 comes along. If this is a life style change then you can't feel bad and punish yourself when you give into a temptation. All you can do is accept that you did and you deserved it and then go back to making the right and healthy choice 9 times out of 10.

Exercise is also different this time, as I am now trying to find ways to keep interested in being active for the rest of my life. Running on the same treadmill everyday or every second day is fine, at first, but as I keep losing inches and getting more energy, I realize that there are many more things I want to try and experience. That is why I signed up for a dance class. I haven't taken dance since I was a little girl but something about it has always held a place in my heart. I researched a couple of dance styles and settled on Belly Dance. I know its sounds kinda funny, why would a fat person want to do a dance that was centered on the most dreaded part of my entire body? But belly dancing has always been an interest for me and it's a great workout for your core (which is my least favorite part of my body but the place that needs the most work!). After my first class I felt muscles I never felt before and I felt great! What I didn't feel great about was that I was the fattest person in my whole class but I have to get over that because I am there to make a difference and lose weight and get into shape!

I am already looking into different classes that I would like to take after this dance class is over. NIA sounds very interesting and fun at the same time so I think that will be my next class. I have found a way to fit physical activity into my life and I will have to continue to find new things to try for the rest of my life.

Those who want to do something, find a way.
Those who don't, find an excuse.
