zaza_gabor's Journal, 30 September 2015

Completed day 3 of week 3 of the C25K plan. I allowed two days rest before and massaged my legs beforehand, besides stretching. So I experienced only minimal discomfort on the outer side of my calves that vanished halfway through the session. I felt very happy after running and the weather is particularly nice at the moment; the sycamore trees' foliage is starting to take nice shades of yellow, amber and red.

I'm so happy to hear that you had less discomfort in your calves and that you had a nice view when you were running. I'm going to my first Pilates session this afternoon - same instructor as I have for the other exercise classes. I'm looking forward to it!

I was indeed very happy to find I am suffering from much less severe cramps :D I hope you enjoy your Pilates course this afternoon.

I did. It's going to take me a while to get used to working my abdominals and finding my balance - I'm a bit shaky but luckily I've not fallen over yet!

It sounds like this first session was quite intense. How often will you be attending classes during the week?

It depends. At the moment I have very little work, I teach English for private language schools in Krakow and they have university semesters, but by November I'll have a lot more hours. I'm hoping I can go to 2 sessions per week, not necessarily pilates. Ela tends to put a mixture of styles into her classes. Unfortunately, most classes are late afternoon and evening - usually when I'm teaching. However, this year is for me and if I have to turn down some work so be it.

Sometimes you have to put your health and fitness first before work. And this is wonderful you are in Krakow! Poland is a beautiful and interesting country, not at all grey as depicted in the West for a long time. My partner and I drove through in 2004 and spent some time in Gdansk, where the architecture is so surreal! Do you speak polish?

Yes, you're right. After a couple of stressful years it's my time now. Gdansk is lovely,I was there in 2007. It is a beautiful country and Krakow is amazing, but unfortunately the pay is low. Private language schools are always on holiday and we only get paid for the hours we teach. I'm coming back to the UK next summer because I need to pay something towards the pension - I'm 54 so I've got to think about these things...
