Jimporter's Journal, 08 June 2015

I've spent the whole weekend working in the garden. So much to do!!! Hanging baskets, lawns, planting out. All this in case we eventually get a bit of summer. Saturday the wind was blowing everything over and it was so cold. Yesterday was better and I was down to one thick wooly fleece. At least it all burns calories don't it!! Hope my buddies are all well and behaving with their food intake. All the best to you all. Regards Jim.

you put me to shame Jim, i bought a Geranium to sit on the table out back and some herbs for kitchen windowsill!! i will have to google to find out how to look after them and i will probably end up taking them down to my step-mum for her to give them emergency life saving treatment!!

Hi Drullae. Geraniums are quite easy to look after. Regular watering especially if they are in baskets or pots as they dry out quickly. If you give them an occasional feed of soluble Miracle Grow they will do very well. I've never done much with herbs although I've tried with coriander and it goes leggy and wilts away on a window sill. By the way I live in a place called Garden Village so I have to make the effort to keep up with the neighbours. Hope you are well. Kindest regards. Jim

Hi Drullae. Well done!! Gardening is said to be good for you. It focuses the mind and it is supposed to take away anxieties and the stresses of modern living. It certainly works for me. The only drawback is that summer is too short and winter comes too soon especially as I get older. I hope you enjoy your gardening and discover all the pleasures it brings. Persevere!! Regards Jim.

I'm laying a patio, I'm rubbish at DIY. It's taken a week so fare about £1000 in materials 5 ton of sand and it's not that level :(. I need to level the rest of the area and put around 3 ton of stones down. I hope we get sun here after all this work.
