Had a bad day Friday. I was subjected to no less than 6 different cakes at school on Friday and ended up caving and having a little piece. The cake didn't taste that good and made me feel like crap. I kept my lunch Atkins-friendly, but then that night I was eating alone and I went and ate McDonald's-- figured if I was going to be bad I may as well do it all in one day. I at least didn't let myself have a soda with my McDonald's. My binge knocked me down to moderate ketosis. I've done fine yesterday and today, though. I am going to restrict my vegetable intake to only green veggies. I've been eating a lot of tomatoes, peppers, onions, and spinach lately-- think I might be overdoing it so I'm going to cut that back and only eat salad veggies. Also, I'm cutting out nuts until I'm ready for OWL. I'll weigh-in tomorrow.

I'm mad at myself not because I screwed up the diet, but because we don't want to eat like that anymore, period. Even if, heavens forbid, I can't stick with Induction or OWL, we still want our family's diet to closely resemble maintenance.

The vegetables you mentioned are not the starchy ones, so I would keep eating them. Maybe in moderations if you want to follow the diet more strictly. I am not a big fan of all the fat I had to eat on Induction phase, so I moved to OWL. I can eat more veggies and lean protein and less fat. Works for me. Anyway I wish you luck. You are strong and have good reasons to get your life under control. You can do it, and we are here to help.

Thanks. I know they're not starchy, but they have more carbs, right? I've been eating a combo of all of them, but have been keeping it under a cup a day. I did splurge a little bit some days on too much spinach, but I certainly didn't go over 20 carbs on any of those days. I'm just trying to figure out what's in my diet that keeps me from losing faster (aside from my binge). I'm staying under my 20 grams of carbs a day, but allowing a packet or two of splenda or a low-carb atkins-type snack here and there. It's often on the days that I worry I went a little over that I see more weight loss. I'm trying not to focus on my weight loss, but it's kinda hard, you know? My cycle is also really weird right now, that's part of why I'm doing low carb, so I might just be retaining a bit of water. I've thought about going on to OWL, but feel that I have just too much weight to lose to go off of Induction yet. Thanks for the luck. You too!
