BeyondCommon's Journal, 30 September 2014

I started following a GI diet shortly after finding out I have type 2 diabetes. It's more of a guideline and has provided me with tools on how to feel full longer since symptoms of diabetes are constant thirst and hunger, of which I can attest to. Not just any sort of mild hunger, a very headache, grumpy, rude even angry sort of hunger. Even after I've just had a meal. I could see myself and feel terrible reacting with such intense emotion to everything.

Additionally the first thing my Dr. suggested was to lose weight. I'm being polite by saying suggested. Another doctor said to me that part of being diabetic was feeling hungry (as we know) but that the reality was that in order to lose the weight, I was going to have to learn to live with that feeling, a lot of the time.

After studying and learning how food affects our bodies and what happens when we eat with thought, the right amount of vitamins, minerals, nutrients, protein and the ladder... I notice so many changes from the feeling of hunger to wanting to run a marathon.

I am so much more concerned now about the combination of foods with each meal and getting all the necessary vitamins and nutrients etc., while trying to avoid too much sodium, trans fats, saturated fats, cholesterol and sugar - the weight has just melted off. And I'm consistently losing 1 lb. a week without exercise.
