Morning guys! Off for a run this morning and then heading off to the learning commons to do some more dissertation. Hopefully today will be more productive than yesterday. Although I read loads about the ketogenic diet. Anyone heard of it? Or mire importantly is anyone doing it. It scientifically makes a lot of sense to me but I'm too scared to try it. I don't think I'm dedicated enough to completely change the way I eat. Oh well.
Hopped on the scales this morning and I'm back down from my previous weekend/pancake day poor eating choices. I'm hoping that I'll be 140 by Wednesday *fingers crossed*
Hope everyone had a great day. X

I started a Keto diet a week ago and I LOVE it! The basic premise behind it is to re-train the body to burn a different fuel source: FAT. The way we do that is to nearly completely restrict carbs and flood the body with fats and moderate amounts of protein. The only types of carbs we DO put into our bodies during Ketosis would be small amounts of plant-based carbs, such as those found in dark, leafy greens. You would want to stay away from "starchy carbs" such as though found in grains and starchy veggies. If you'd like more information regarding Keto and various Keto diets (as there are several types to choose from), check out www.ruled.me

Thanks so much! It seemed to make so much sense I was itching to try it but I was worried about initially putting on a bit of weight before going into ketosis. Has that happened for you? I've looked at the bulletproof diet too which is essentially very similar. I really like the look of them would you recommend it then?

I haven't had ANY weight gain since starting Keto (but it's only been a week). I have only seen losses with both myself and my fiancé. I don't know anything about a "bulletproof diet", but I DO have a bulletproof coffee in the morning (coffee, butter and cream blended until frothy).

Have you had to buy a meal plan or anything because I can't really afford anything like that. I have check out that website and got the subscribed so hopefully that will all be good :)

There's a link on the Ruled.me site that is called Keto on a Budget...check it out. There are all kinds of things you can STILL eat that fit this diet that are "cheap". I also felt this diet was expensive, but then I had to look at the amount of money I USED to throw at fast food, grocery items with no nutritional value etc....this diet didn't look so expensive once I put it into perspective. And I am also looking at it as a financial investment in my future (kinda corny and cliché, but true nonetheless).

That is a really good way of looking it at it though. I give that a read and see. I'm going to wait until after my dissertation is written to start it I think. That means I can read up about it and what I need to do and also if I get any symptoms like keto-flu it won't affect a big piece of work :) I'm cutting down carbs currently anyway so hopefully that will make the end transition easier :)

Whatever works for you Loo! How much longer on your dissertation?

Just under 2 weeks so relatively soon. Good for new eating habits, bad for the fact that I have to hand it in!

You've got this! It'll be a breeze, just exercise some focus and discipline :)
