I found this site yesterday and after reading about some of the diets I decided to try the South Beach Diet. I went to Wal-Mart to find the book and it was no longer selling there. The library was already closed, so when I came home I went on-line to ebay and bid on the book. I don't really know what I am doing, but I am jumping in. I weighed this morning and I CAN'T BELIEVE I am at 200#! I have never told my husband my weight, but I think that keeping it secret has kept me from being accountable and from trusting him. OK, I am going to tell him.

When I went over 130 I told my husband I was 130 and I never admitted to gaining more. At 140 I think I told him 133, at 150 I think I said 136..Finally I had to have surgery and he was there and he actually turned his head when they had me step on the scale. My heart melted that he knew I didn't want him to see my weight and he respected me enough not to care, so I finally told him; Honey, I'm 173 right now. (Now I'm down to 167 but have been stuck there for months, and yet he knows thats an accomplishment getting below 170)Telling my husband helped me, and you know he still loved me just as much! Now I know I can be more open with him about my real weight, it feels so much better being able to do so. And now he can really celebrate when I hit those goals! Good luck to you and let me know how it goes.

Yeah, men who love us really are a great resource and support system. I've been a bit secretive with my husband about how much I weigh, precisely, but I do tell him how much I've lost, my target weight, and how much I still have left to lose. LOL. It is our little game we play where he pretends not to be able to do math. One reason I love fatsecret is because you can tell "the world" your weight...in a way it's liberating and helpful to get past any shame. Shame and weight-loss don't get along too well together. Glad to have you as a buddy, and good luck. I'll keep a look over your posts and progress!
