Yesterday morning upon arising, my weight was at 224. My doctor wants me to do 30g of protein 3x day. Since I have been on high protein, I seem to get constipated more despite magnesium and the glucomannan. I came across a tea called TrimMaxx and bought 2 boxes and had a cup of it the night before. For 2 days, I was in the bathroom a lot and this morning, I was shocked to see my weight at 219.
The first of February, I started at 237, when I first saw my doctor for weight loss.
When my blood tests showed my thyroid was low, I was flooded with emotion and now 3 weeks later after starting medication, I see a wonderful difference in how I feel. Of course I am so relieved at my renewed energy level as at the age of 60, I am not feeling total exhaustion from trying to keep up with an 8 yr old and a 12 yr old, both who have special needs and a husband who is having severe health issues of his own.
My doctor also has me on low dosage of Topamax for weight control. I also started this on March 3rd. When I first started it, I had a hard time eating at all. If I eat slow, I get full really fast and cannot eat much and if I eat fast, I usually end up sick to my stomach. I do not know how long it will last. I see nothing wrong in using a diet aide. My doctor also does education and I am using opportunities to learn about foods and listening to what my body needs. Most of all, I am learning not to be an emotional eater.
I might add at this time, I am type 1 diabetic and a couple years ago, I started going toward vegetarian. I now take less than 1/2 the insulin I used to. I also have rheumatoid arthritis and giving up meats, sugar, pastas, etc., has left me pain free. I do eat fish and at times eggs. My goal is just healthier eating for what my body needs.
For years, I put my needs aside because of family finances, etc. I really wanted to do the weight loss surgery, but over $20,000 just is not in my budget. I heard of the doctor I now see and knowing I needed some help, I made the appointment. Yes, we had to make some sacrifices so I could go. My husband likes large queens and I just don't want to be large any longer. I have 2 precious children who need their mom, so I set my foot down and told him I was doing it because I deserved it.
So, here I am at this site and do not know where my journey will take me. I usually do not get in 90g of protein a day though. I try to do at least 2 protein shakes per day and a sensible meal with some protein and vegetables.
I am hoping to meet a few diet buddies here also.

HI, I'm lizzy , I have TONS of buddies and without them, I would be LOST! I log everything every day, and report probably 4 or 5 days a week. I get online almost every day and read my buddies journals and we all comment, we also have a LOT of FUN! Not all weight loss. SO, Get a bunch of buddies and jump in head first! you are doing great! I am so glad they found the thyroid problem. what a difference the correct medication makes. I took topamax years ago and I slept like a baby on it! Don't remember the hunger thing with it, but I remember I did well with it. Were all emotional eaters here, I just hope you have support from your hubby. You need to take care of yourself or you can't take care of your kids or him. I am glad you went to the doc! I'm sending you a buddy request!

PS, I am also on a diet similar to yours, but I eat meat. I try to get a good lean unprocessed protein in 3 times a day as well (don't look at my last few days of diet LOL, I had a lot of cheese yesterday and this morning... just one of those days.

Hi Lizzy, I log all my foods on a private journal. Perhaps, O may start doing it on here..just trying to learn the seems better than some others. There are times I do eat some meat. I try not to deprive myself and do just a small amount. And yes, we all have those days:) One day a month, hubby and I go out on a date night and I eat a bit more than normal and eat what I want (such as the topping off a piece of pizza) and I have to say, I do not rerally log that day as it is a free day..but, I am good about no sweets, etc..just more calories..nice to meet you:)
