I slept poorly last night - although that could be the warm temperature. I need to be super focused at my work stuff, but I feel a productive streak coming on. I'm buying a scale tomorrow, so I'm hoping it'll say something nice to me after a week of really low fat eating (maybe a bit on the high carb side).

Even if it doesn't, my boyfriend says I look trimmer and I know the tone of my muscles is better and the best way to lose weight is to build calorie hungry muscle.

I'm also proud of myself (after dragging my tush this morning for getting out swimming 5 days in a row. I only did 24 laps today as I was close to the end of the swim, but I did them in about 18 minutes and then I hustled at a brisk clip home. By the end of next week, I'm hoping to tack a run-walk to the way home, building up to a jog home. We'll see.

Tomorrow is probably going to be low key as I'm not planning on swimming and it is supposed to be rainy. Sunday though we are hoping to tackle some serious uphill hiking - hopefully finishing in an alpine meadow. There are a lot of retired folks who live in this town and hearing them talk at the pool about this pass and that pass they climbed this week and whether it was easy or not made me feel a bit embarrassed at dismissing hikes because of their altitude gain as too hard. I'm tough enough that if I give myself enough time there isn't any day hike that I can't do - I just need to be smart and maybe work my way up to that stage. Still, its not impossible, just challenging and it surprised me how easy it was to limit myself unreasonably. I need to work on my I can and I will and keep walking every day and keep eating healthy... and start working on abs and toning.

So my goal for the day is to switch from a pessimistic view of what I can do to an optimistic view of what I can do - and challenge myself to reaching beyond what I know I can do, to what I think I can do and onto what I know will be a challenge, but still doable.
