The Tuesday before Thanksgiving my company threw a dinnner and catered chicken from a famous fried chicken place. We all brought side dishes. Shortly after eating a funny tasting chicken I didn't feel so good. Stupid me instead of not eating it I just put salt on it. Stupid!! I was sick until Sunday with stomach pains of shame. Then my body decided to kick me while I was already down. So I watched December come into view with a cold and sore throat. This proceeded my mother and Youngest nagging me to go to the Doctor. NO! NO! NO! I never take cold medicines but I was not getting over it and it was getting worse. I had no energy to run. Good thing I had no appitite either. I finally admitted I needed help and consulted a WEB DR. for over the counter natural cures. I did buy some Alka sulcer cold plus, Delsym and sucrets and Ludens. I also adapted the addage starve a fever feed a cold. I began drinking tons of orange juice, hot lemonade, and ginger ale. I fought this until the 22nd of December. But final relief,..... was short lived. For the New Years Weekend the Flu came to visit. So now it is the third of January, I am ready to get back to business of a better and healthier life. I just could not keep up my food logs and fight the sore throat. I was busy with holiday preps and watching the babies. I was pretty good with watching what I ate. I just didnot log it in. One day I was feeling down and I ate 5 of the Cakeballs with a glass of milk. The first of December for 29 years I have made Christmas candy for my husband. I don't usually eat it, I just get to make it. I am not a big candy eater, my food craves are bread and meat kinda stuff. Tonight I will begin again...I will run for one hour on the mill....log my food.....keep my exercise calandar. Just my luck I am sick for a month and do I lose weight!?!?!?! NOOOOOOO! I gained two pounds. Goes to show you that sugar is my problem. I drank 3-2 liters of ginger ale and a whole bag of lemons and a bottle of lemon juice with about an 8th of a cup of sugar per cup of hot lemonade. I even took hot lemonade to our family Christmas in the Woods. Everyone loved it since it was cold outside that weekend. We all meet in the timber on my moms land, build a campfire. Everyone brings something to eat. All beef dogs, Bud's Beans and treats.... hot lemonade and coffee Then we sing, play games and chase the little ones through the tree, take walks and laugh and catch up and last cry it's over. Very nice.
I guess looking back it is not so bad I gained just two pounds. I sure put away a lot of drink, throat hurt too bad for anything else. WELL back to business NEW YEAR NEW ME!!!!!!!!!
