Funny how life mirrors you sometimes! I have been slowly adding back in weights to my workouts, convinced that while I don't want to look like a bodybuilder, I for sure want to be toned and ready for summer this year!

So, I will not be afraid of lifting weights.

Eating my veggies.

Up'ing my protein just a tad.

Then I get an email this morning from Women's Health! Sure fire way to get the weight off... Weights, Veggies, Protein. HA!

And down a pound this morning! Made the committed change about a four days ago. (lowering cardio emphasis in gym to warm up/weights/cool down). I do think there is a connection to the pound gone.

Will be doing this again this week, and we shall see. For now, I'll take it!
144.0 lb Lost so far: 6.0 lb.    Still to go: 4.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
losing 0.5 lb a week

Lift weights, you will feel great! I honestly don't know any females that lift that are pumped up. It takes HOURS of dedication only lifting to look like that. I use to lift for HOURS and I was never bulky, but was toned. Enjoy your new strength, it will help us a lot when we get older! It's hard to understand why my mother can't get up if she falls on the floor or can't open doors. I don't want to be like that! It will pay off! Congrads on the pound down! YEAH!!

1 of the things that will prevent you from getting that big is testosterone. There is a reason women dont look like body builders without lots of work, and lots of em..help.. It requires lots of testosterone to build that much muscle.

Congrats! I'm glad the scale is moving in the right direction! Thanks for the info. :) While I've never been afraid of lifting weights, I've been very lazy about it lately. Time to get back to some strength training.

Good for you! I think strength training is definitely a key part of anyone's workout plan and wouldn't be surprised at all if the change is helping you on the scale. We're rooting for your continued forward progress! :-) You deserve success!

Yeah... Well done, it must be so good to see that scale moving again. Once I have completed my 5k challenge in May, I shall be upping my strength training. Don't get me wrong, I will NOT be ditching the cardio, as I am finding it hard to get back to the same level of fitness, I had 6 months ago. At that time, I eased down on the cardio and instead of doing HIIT and running, I replaced it with brisk walking, rowing machine, and stationery bike. I then took up spin 6 weeks ago (just once a week) and it nearly killed me. I now know, I want to be fit enough to run, but also want to include strength training to 'tone' the flabby bits. For the moment - the 5k is my priority - but I am sure, when I go back to the weight machines - I will have to 'start' again.
