Reality check. I'm starting this new contest today (Biggest Loser) and I want to be totally accountable. I got a new scale which reflects a more accurate weight - similar to the one I was using at home. On it I weigh 202 pounds - a gain of eighteen pounds. 18 pounds in 3 months. That's almost one and a half pounds a week. I am entering that in 'today's weight', and so it shows a gain of 14 pounds.

I can make up all the excuses in the world; some of them legitimate and completely understandable (surgery, new medication, first year of menopause, living in a 25' RV with a carboholic, being away from home for over three months, and more) but the fact is, I'm gaining weight and it hurts.

I couldn't sleep last night because I couldn't find a comfortable way to lay without painfully squishing some part of my body. This has got to stop. Today.

I've entered a challenge here on Fat Secret and I'm going to go for it. I have to; not to win, but because I desperately need to stop gaining and start losing weight.
202.0 lb Lost so far: 0 lb.    Still to go: 52.0 lb.    Diet followed poorly.
gaining 15.5 lb a week

The win is you getting to where you want and your personal goals no matter how long it takes. Challenges are good motivators! :D I am in it with you! I have been in Peri-menopause for nearly 2 years and in treatment for almost 1. Losing 36 lbs has made a huge difference in the way I feel, sleep, even the hot flashes have subsided more than even meds alone.

Totally understand that menopause weight gain, in addition to living a life that drags you where you'd rather not go! BUT - you've done the right thing in putting your challenges out there for accountability! YOU CAN DO THIS! When I hit menopause, I went from 115 to over 180 in *18 months*. Talk about devastating. And my doctors were of very little help. They gave their best advice, but couldn't stop the runaway weight gain. Blew out my adrenals from insane stress and a chaotic life. But life is too short to be a victim. Now I'm nourishing my adrenals; on a ketogenic diet; getting my hormones leveled off a bit; and living as low-stress as is possible. Prayer has been a tremendous help, as has my wonderful husband. God is good, life is good, and we can conquer any challenge. Hang in there!

I decided I needed to lose weight because I was having trouble trying my shoe-laces! Anyway good luck in the challenge, I'll see you there.
