I have a question...

What does loose skin count as (on the scale)? I have lots of it. Maybe that's why my body fat % is higher? Seriously, if I could just have some kind of procedure to get rid of the loose skin, I'd probably lose another 10 pounds easily! Is there any way to get rid of it (besides surgically)?

This is a great question CrystalJo. At times, I some include abductor muscle exercises. A wall or the floor helps for exercise that feel a little more difficult. I like resistance exercises with a stretch band particularly for upper arms. Having less issue with my thighs due to walks. Speaking only for myself, I may not have the physical body I envision when at goal weight. A picture perfect body is not always an indication of overall health and well-being. I may outwardly look a little misshapen but my goal is to be healthier overall (feel better) in mind, body and spirit. It's my choice to be proud and continue to work toward that end. From a more philosophical end, I can look at how my wellness goal journey not only impacts my own life but those closest. Maybe it's extending my life, certainly my quality of life and ability to enjoy life with with those closest to me. This has value too far beyond my final outward bodily appearance. It's the whole package for me :) I'm so thankful to see your posts each day, receive your support, support you and to follow one another's journey. Your beauty is beyond skin deep :)

@losingtowin...you TOTALLY made my day🤗😊 Perspective is key on our journeys, that's for sure. I KNOW I look 'better', move 'better', feel 'better' than I did with the extra pounds...and that's what matters, right?! I don't know why I let the scale mess with my mind so much!! My hubby's compliments, my image in the mirror as I walk by, my ability to accomplish so much more each day...those should be my milestones & encouragements rather than that ridiculous BF% number on my scale!! Thank you, my friend, for bringing perspective, support & a huge 'hug' to my spirit today💙💙💙

Crystaljo I would like to hope that strength training & lifting weights would help it all, in due time, but I know when I'm home watching TV with Dr.Now some of his patients did end up having to have surgery, I don't know maybe that's just TV. or maybe a lot of us will have the same problem that your asking about.

@Erq...I hope to get back to heavier exercise soon (pending rheumatology appt). Thanks so much for lending your advice and your support💙💙💙

@buenita...thank you, dear friend, for your comments and insights. I honestly don't think, at my age, that surgery is even an option. I KNOW, in my heart, that I feel better, eat better, exercise more and have a better outlook on life than I did before. If I end up carrying around this 'kangaroo pouch' for the rest of my life....oh well!🤷‍♀️🦘

@Erq...those are GREAT suggestions!! I used to take water aerobics classes or just go and 'move' in the water almost every day when we lived close to a fitness center. Now that we've moved to the country...it's a trek to the closest pool, but it just might be worth it to schedule a few days a week there. THANK YOU!🌷

Crystaljo I would like to hope that weight lifting and strength training would help it all, but watching Dr.Now on TV a lot of his patients eventually had to have surgery. maybe alot of us, that lost a lot of weight will have the same problem that your asking about. yikes.

@Erq...I agree about the surgery. It's never been a realistic suggestion for me. 😉

I agree with both of you I was just telling Crystaljo what I see on TV.

I do not think much will happen with it. Younger humans will probably see some tightening but when we get older it is not that likely. Just have to except who we are and enjoy the lightness of losing those pounds.

@Liv...that's pretty much what I was thinkin too😏

@Buenita...I appreciate you sharing what you saw on TV...I don't often watch Dr type programs. If I was much younger, I might consider surgery (or if I had MUCH more loose skin). I was just curious to hear if anyone knew of specific exercises or anything that would help. Thanks for your comments, my friend💙

I also have a lot of loose skin. Not much you can do about it.

Um, Crystal, that's my man Mr. Hangy Krangy‼️ When u, or anyone else, finds a way to cut him loose without a scalpel then PLEASE lmk🙆‍♀️ P.S. I don't think it gets easier as u get older bc skin tends to lose its elasticity. It doesn't spring back...kinda like an old rubber band🤷‍♀️

Some of it will bounce back especially of your young. The rest may have to be removed by a surgeon. I don't think loose skin will effect you BMI but it will definitely bring down your scale number once removed.

Hi! When I asked my trainer about it, he said “I’d be the richest man in the world if you could exercise that “front butt” off of my clients…”

You will likely have loose skin forever- as others have said- unless surgically removed. Exercise can make a difference but not a lot if you have a lot of it- as you said you do. I'm stuck with mine, too.
