Thank you Tai 😃 Normally I use my powerchair 👩‍🦼 but I remember just maybe 6 or 7 years ago, being able to walk our neighborhood in Everett (with sidewalks) and I LOVED it! Now the arthritis has progressed rapidly and walking is painful in back & hips. I see how my friends here take glorious long walks or bike rides and it inspires me to at least TRY.

BTW...it really vexes me that my FitBit doesn't count my steps when I'm using the walker or pushing a shopping cart! Maybe I should wear it around my ankle instead!!

It's a great start! 👍👍

That's a great idea! I wouldn't have thought of track poles. FitBit uses change in center of gravity to determine steps, so if you stabilize your hand to carry something or to lean on something - it cannot determine those steps. I wore my watch on my ankle for a bit to see whether it makes any difference and it does, but I prefer to have a watch on my wrist.)

I love my trekking poles. I can't use them with the puppy, unfortunately. It's all I can do to keep her from tangling up my legs. Imagine the mess with poles!

Thanks BlueDog...I think I might try it for just 1 day 😜 or maybe I just need a pedometer in my pocket?

@Liz...oh my! No leashes tangled in poles please!

Ok...I just tried it to the mailbox...only about 400 steps according to FitBit on my wrist. The poles kept my posture straighter than the walker and my upper arms actually got a little workout too! Now, if I can just do this regularly, I think I'm onto something! Yes!😎

these are fantastic exercise and I know a number of people of all levels of fitness including one who took them to the top of Mt Whitney, not a small accomplishment. I'm not sure if he used them the whole way as I wasn't there, but this guy also survived a heart attack in the Grand Canyon and had something to prove.
