CrystalJo74's Journal, 06 October 2021

I'm still adjusting to eating earlier in the day, in order to stop eating earlier in the evening. I find that I am forcing myself to eat the last remaining calories in my recommended minimum, but I am still full from the meal mid-day.

I have also realized that I have been stressing myself out trying to follow the meal plan that I get here on FS. Remember...I am NOT a good cook, and those meal plans call for a bunch more cooking than I am used to (or able to) keep up with! The plan is to SIMPLIFY my meal choices, sticking with our fave recipes and focusing on balance of nutrients at each meal, and only adding a new recipe every other day (instead of every meal!)

Any other ideas for simplifying? I just need a break...lol 😖😜

Freedom & fun are important to me. I don’t know about you, we have different personalities, but I want you to have fun too. I loved your attempt on roasted veggies. Didn’t you enjoy it? You don’t have to succeed all the time, and you don’t have to follow every single suggestion on FS. I stick to only a few rules.

Thanks yfritz...I think my biggest problem is making decisions. Seriously...my whole life 🤣 and there are so freakin many recipes and photos and cookbooks and wonderful ideas....I just have a ridiculously hard time mixing and matching to get balanced nutrients. Yes, I might have some OCD issues🙄 It is a definite hindrance, but I am determined to overcome ! Thank you for encouraging me and reminding me, that this journey should also be FUN!

I'm not much of a cook, so my meals are basically 'store-bought. Even if you just use the food and drinks sold in the store, your diet will always be successful. I think it's important to look at the Nutrition Facts label on the product for sale. ▽°|b✨

Trust me there are easier ways. Pre make homemade salad dressings (it can be frozen in an ice cube tray), crock pot cook or oven cook broths, etc and freeze back. Wash and pre cut veg as soon as you get home from the store. So one day a week I premake stock, pre bake vegetables, cut up green pepper etc. Then during the week I’m just grabbing pre prepped ingredients and eating raw or throwing in the microwave or oven. Eating raw is by far the easiest.

You have all been sincerely helpful and supportive. I am using ideas from each of you and letting myself just "unclench" from the anxiety of self-imposed perfectionism. It should get easier now....👩‍🍳❤

Here is the secret of Fat Secret the FS actually stands for Fantastic Support. The people here are great as many on the “outside” just don’t get the challenge body, mind and food that we face getting to our goals.

I dont know what level of cooking you do. If you can boil water, wash veggies. You can cook. Baby steps. Keep it simple. Make a list of food you like. Veggies, protein, carb Dinner plate, 1/2 plate veggies, 1/4 plate protein, 1/4 carb. Protein should fit in the palm of your hand. Unless you decide on keto or low carb. In that case lots of folks here are on keto / low carb. There are lots of great cooks, many would answer if you ask for cooking tips. Google simple recipes with your key ingredient as the keyword. Look at the images, read recipe if it looks easy go for it.
