I'm with you... I was actually gaining weight last week (2 pounds) even though I was only eating 50% of my RDI and hitting the treadmill every night. I fasted on Saturday which shed the water that my body was holding onto and I lost 3 pounds overnight. Just remember that a pound of fat is roughly 3,500 calories... so those extra 250 calories are not responsible for any significant weight gain. Your body is probably holding onto water. Cut back on your sodium intake and see what happens. :)

Yeah, it's not certain that your weight gain is strictly connected to those extra 250 calories ;) It can just be a fluctuation of water, or bowel contents etc... Did you sleep well? Sleeping less will usually mean more weight in the morning. Anyhow, don't worry about it! Weekly results are more important! :)

Deb - it's most likely not the 250 calories that caused the weight gain! Don't be hard on yourself! & keep up the grt work!

Everyday is a new day and fresh start so don't beat yourself up over yesterday and work on you today. Have a wonderful day!

Hi Deb. 2 steps forward one step back, often for no good reason. I know I fluctuate within about a 3 lb range. I love it when the scale shows a lower number, but use the higher numbers to gather determination for the next few days. I know lots of people only weigh once a week, but if I do that, I allow myself more extra calories than if I get reminded at the beginning of the day to stay true to my goals. Salt, lack of daily elimination and not enough sleep are all things that affect weight and have little to do with calories. Keep your eye on the prize. You have been great support to me. Thank you. Every Sunday night I have a big salad for supper and limit my liquid intake so that I may weigh less on Monday morning. The salad makes me have a good bowel movement and I don't have a lot of water build up. It seems to work.

Thanks for the comments and advice, everyone! You all are the best! After I said that I ate 250 calories extra, I thought about it some more and checked my data. I had also exercised less the day before. Yes, sodium is my nemesis. lol Onwards and upwards. Well, hopefully the scale will be downwards. :)

Deb, I am so proud of you for sticking to the challenge. Hang in there. I couple of calories here or there are not going to break the scale. One thing I've started doing (as part of my water consumption) is to drink a glass of water first, before I eat anything. So right now there's a bag of chocolate chip cookies on the hotel room credenza and right next to the bag is a 16oz glass of water. Sometimes it just easier to say I don't really need the cookie, that way I don't have to drink an extra glass of water.

In the long term, it is guaranteed to be downwards with your effort! It just takes time! :)
