Again with the caffiene and salt...Went to dinner at a friend's house. She makes awesome Grilled Salmon! The only downside is that she uses soy sauce in the marinade. Think I'm gonna experiment with her recipe and see what I can do to lower the sodium content. She also adds soy sauce to the zuchini/squash/mushroom medley. And does not believe in anything caffeine free...LOL but I love her and she is a great friend! So I'll deal with a .6 water weight gain any time she wants to make dinner for us! It was all so yummy! Good friends, good food= great evening!

I've been wondering if there is a good substitute for soy sauce and teriyaki sauce, both of which I have loved to use in cooking. I know they have too much sodium and probably too much sugar, but I've tried to rationalize using it by being stingy with the amount. Maybe an aged balsamic vinegar would be a good replacement with just a hint of an organic sweetener. I keep hearing about agave syrup, but I haven't tried it yet.

I use the low sodium version of soy sauce, I don't use teriyaki so I can't help there. As far as soy sauce, although it does have quite a bit of sodium and sugar, for myself, I don't use it everyday, or every week for that matter, so I don't concern myself too much with it other than to buy low sodium and not OVERdo with it.
