RebeccaCole's Journal, 07 June 2019

My insurance kicked in June 1st, saw my new PCP June 4th. Weighed at 151 with pants and shoes (slacks and flats) so I felt the need to take off a pound because I generally weigh myself in shorts/lighter clothing and no shoes. Height came in at 65.7 inches. They counted my BMI at 24.59KG/M2, when I do it online, they generally say it's a little over 25 so I'm a little confused. Is there another calculation when they do BP?(120/75) There is room for improvement, I can obviously get my weight down a little more and my systolic a little more but they aren't actually bad readings. My HR was 99/min, a little on the faster side but talking about my family history makes me a tad upset (pretty grim). I mentioned my history with microscopic hematuria and so she had me do another urinalysis and blood test real quick - waiting on results for those.

Anyway, my PCP is requesting records from the shady urologist I went to back in 2018 and BSW to take a look at the CT results herself and what would be the best preventative care. She brainstormed the idea of having probably a yearly blood test and a urinalysis based on family history (mother & maternal grandmother - 36 & 56 - Kidney Cancer). There are so many factors though, both were overweight and my grandmother was a heavy smoker, so my mother could've been exposed to secondhand. With this health insurance, my copay is only 25$ so that wouldn't be a bad expense to dish out yearly. Peeing in a cup doesn't have really any risk, drawing blood there is very little risk as well apart from the usual bruising/infection. Just want to dot our i's and cross our t's.

My mother was misdiagnosed with a UTI, they prescribed her antibiotics and went home. A month later, she still had the symptoms and returned only to be told that she has late stage Kidney Cancer. A month after I turned 11 she was gone.

I try not to make excuses for my poor eating but I just lost my grandfather this past month and it stung. I left work early hoping to possibly go home, change and then visit my grandfather in the hospital. I decided to see him the next morning (2 hour drive from where I'm currently at), but unfortunately he had different plans. He passed peacefully. Services were held and it was very unexpected - we've visited his property which has accumulated miscellaneous items over the years (Including items from other passed loved ones) so it's been a little heart jerking.

It's also been the season of Graduations. I saw my cousin's graduation from TAMU, her younger sister's graduation in Denver, CO (JWU), and then my other cousin's HS graduation. So loss of loved one, graduations, travelling, slight stomach bug later - only looks like I've gained 3 or so pounds.

Sorry for the long post but last time I updated was April 13, 2019.
