FLORIDAGAL2022's Journal, 30 November 2012

WELL........... After 2 days of Weight Watchers I went off the deep end. Almost a month with no binges & WW put me over the edge. Going from 35 net carbs a day to 300 sent me over the edge. Not only that but the weight I hoped to lose because I was frustrated with my weight sneaking up to 117.4 is now 118 after WW. So.............. Back to low carb today. I've learned my lesson. I eat much healthier on a low carb diet than I could ever eat on WW.
118.0 lb Lost so far: 11.0 lb.    Still to go: 10.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

I read your post yesterday and was wondering how you would do. I think that I would have the same problem. I do sooo much better in a pretty tight box. I don't do so well with moderation. I'm sorry that it didn't work. It would be nice to eat all of those things again, but it's sooo not worth it!

That's not true. I do a modified Atkins on WW. You can't just go from low carb to eating tons of carbs no matter what diet. You have to add them back in slowly. WW focuses on eating lean protein, lean dairy, fruits and veggies If you stick with low glycemic fruits and veggies, you can do do low carb while on WW. It's all in how you work the plan Also, many people eat lots of good carbs and lose great. It is an individual thing. I eat very healthy on WW because I choose to do so. Both plans work great when you work them.

For those of us with eating disorders, eating fruits & "ww desserts" etc.. leads to binges. Probably why WW has a disclaimer that doesn't let you join if you suffer from bulimia. It's one of the questions they ask you before joining. The two days I was on WW I ate 2 banana's & 2 apples & 1 clementine per day so I stayed within the "new" ww guidelines of 5 fruits a day (even though they say fruits are "unlimited". But as soon as I bite into an apple, I get a "high" from the sugar. They are 20 net carbs for a medium apple so go figure. Anyway, at the end of day 2 I ended up eating 4 WW desserts, 2 WW dinners & then purging. This was after over 1 month of being binge/purge free. So for those of us who have an intolerance to carbs, WW is right in saying we shouldn't work they're program. Who do you know that binges/purges on veggies & protein? Everyone I have known over the years who has an eating disorder binges on carbs (sweets & carbs) PERIOD. Best of luck to you & what works for you though!
