On friday I decided to try the south beach diet on phase one for two weeks.
I had been doing my own lifestyle change which was essentially SB phase 3 along with exercise 6 days a week. The exercise is key for me because my primary goals are lifestyle and fitness rather than weight loss per se. So I am continuing with the exercise by mixing days with swimming, running, and weight training.
My long term goal is to build a healthy lifestyle with regular exercise and good eating habits that will last for rest of my life.
My short term goals are to regain much of the fitness I had when I was an avid sport climber and to lose the residue of extra carbs and alcohol from my waistline. I dont have as much time to dedicate to exercise as I used to, so I have to be more efficient and watch my diet more closely.
I am trying the SB diet because I am intrigued by the premise that the Phase One Period can reset my insulin production to a more healthy level. I look forward to the return of some carbs (I really enjoy a scone with my afternoon coffee) but I would be happy to see the effects of resetting my insulin meter. Also, I am curious if I can excavate my abdominal muscles.
