Been an interesting 5 weeks. Lost 21 pounds. Been on the LCHF diet. Hard some days not having breads and rice/grains, and no fruit. I've found several recipes that I really enjoy, especially my Meatballs Marinara. I plan on continuing this way of eating but have decided that I am ready to allow myself cheat days once in awhile now.

Congratulations! I love my cheat day once a week. They actually teach me a lot. I do enjoy eating things I don't normally take in on my WOE, but I also have begun to see the difference between how I feel on my WOE vs how I feel after a cheat day. I've started to call them "food hangovers". Needless to say, I find myself grateful when splurge day arrives, but just as relieved when I go back on my WOE. It helps with cravings as well, because I'll often say, "oh wait until your cheat day to have that.." but the ironic thing is I forget half the things I craved by the time cheat day comes, lol. It teaches me how temporary cravings really are and if I'm still craving it, then I know I have a day in the week to enjoy it.

Thanks guys. I do have a question for you about the cheat days. I've been a little worried about actually doing it. I fear the consequences of taking in carbs after limiting them for this long. You speak of a food hangover...will eating carbs, like a sub sandwich make me feel sick or bloated? A couple weeks ago I had ONE bite of monkey bread that my daughter was eating and found it gave me instant heartburn. With how little I eat for meals I can only imagine eating about 1/4 of a sub, maybe half, but I find myself stressing over how much discomfort it could cost.

I do not allow any cheating for myself. I find it is easier for me because I had to go through the withdrawal when I started my LCHF lifestyle. I just look at carby foods as poison to me and I really don't have any cravings. My health problems have improved sooo much since changing my diet that I don't ever want to go back to the "old" me.

Thanks for the input GrandmaGini. I am seriously questioning things. I know I no longer have the bloated feelings and find I no longer have gas (sorry for bringing it up, but it's something I've noticed). Maybe I still have the desires for carbs (especially breads and rice) because this is still kind of new to me. I find I am fine passing on sugars and sweets though.
