Has anyone ever had a sudden reaction to certain foods that caused no issue before? I have been eating raspberries almost every day for a while now and never had a problem. Sunday night (and now last night) I had what felt like a gall bladder attack after eating raspberries. Sunday night I didn't make the connection, but last night I sure did. Incredible pain, vomiting, and diarrhea. (Sorry for the TMI) I guess I am going to have to give them up, but was curious if anyone else had this happen with any foods.

Avocados give me a violent reaction, but no vomitting just diarrhea. There is a lot of fiber in raspberries, but not if you only ate 10 or 20 berries. Could the berries have been sprayed with some pesticide?

I don't know. They were the same brand (Driscoll's) that I always buy. They tasted fine. That is a scary thought though.

Yes, I have. Coffee, alcohol, dark chocolate and shellfish. Can no longer eat/drink these things. What did you eat or drink before eating the raspberries?

I have...Dole chopped salads. I used to eat them every day for lunch and can't now.

I had eaten dinner hours before. I think I drank some water, but that would be it. I am going to look into the pesticide thing a bit more. I have always just rinsed with water and never had any problem, but perhaps I need to be more diligent.

Sometimes people get sick from produce that is tainted with something like listeria or E. coli, even if they have rinsed the produce off.

Ditto Kpwcalories. That could be a possibility. I got very sick from eating fresh salad one time. I believe it was contaminated with something vile. Rinsing doesn't wash everything away unfortunately. Your symptoms sound suspicious of eating something that was contaminated vs. Gallbladder issues.

If you soak your produce in water with vinegar (1 cup vinegar:4 cups water) for 15 minutes, it will take the chemical crap off them. Then rinse in running water

Buy organic, at least avoid the dirty dozen.

Unfortunately, organic is mostly out of budget for me, but I do by a local family-owned market. I will be extra vigilant with my fruit and vegetable washing from here on out. Still going to forego the raspberries for now just to be safe.

I'm not sure what a gall bladder attack feels like but about a month ago I had a case of diverticulitis. Ate nothing different than usual, awful pain in left part of abdomen and diarrhea. No vomiting tho. Took antibiotics and am STILL trying to get good gut bacteria back in balance. Good Luck!

I would avoid them for a month or so and then add them again. Watch for symptoms to reappear. If they do, you know it was the raspberries if not, look for something else or a combination of things.
