I did a VERY BAD thing. I had a bet with a friend that I could find something on plan to eat ANYWHERE. I let her choose the place. She picked Taco Bell.
I know, right? But I looked over the menu, and decided that the fillings in a burrito supreme had to be at least semi-keto friendly. Ditch the tortilla, and I'm golden.
Surprise #1: Since the last time I ate there, they've added refried beans to it. It used to be just meat, etc.
Surprise #2: The sour cream they use is reduced fat!
Surprise #3: When I got home, I checked the nutrition information, and ingredients. It is an absolute SH*TSTORM of YUCK! No wonder I have the headache from hell.
Check this out:

Thanks C2B! A couple of anchovy stuffed olives and a rum-n-diet coke are helping. #Don'tJudge

@Rodney You rock, dude! I miss good ole TexMex. I've lived in TX a few times, and I know good food. It was a challenge, and I thought I had it. I didn't realize how insidious the chemicals were in it. And in South Carolina, the options are slim. I did order UN-sweet tea....hard to do, in da South! I make much better Mexican at home, but today was a special challenge. LOL Thanks for chiming in!

I know about mex eateries...my bf is always telling me to get a veggie burrito from the small hole in the wall (delicious) non-chain places. I know that the veggie burrito is just going to mean more of everything else that is high in fats, sodium, cholesterol. We're in San Diego, Ca.

No judgement here! Have a good night, buddy!

@Microdot2 The food is what I miss most about San Diego!

So sorry you have such a bad headache! Tomorrow, when you start over, things will be better. Take care (maybe more rum?).

Thanks Pokey! The rum was just the ticket. No chemical (or other) hangover this morning, and weight down another .4 lb. :)

@Fred and @Thing, I think this is a good reminder for all of us to be vigilant. Fortunately, because of labeling laws in the US, I'm pretty sure that you can find nutrition information and ingredient lists for all fast food chains. I know I'm going to be check the ones closest to me *before* I order anything from one of them. Finding out after the fact was disturbing.

Not everything is labeled *cough* GMOs *cough*.

Fast Food is a minefield, when I want something that I can't fix at home I run by the produce section of the nearest grocery store and grab an avocado!

You've got that right, Phil! That's what I do at work. Instead of hitting the Wendy's up the road, I go across to the grocery store and get a salad in a bag, or a rotisserie chicken. Less expensive, and I take home the leftovers. I'm going to be doing some investigating today, and I suspect that I'll find that every fast food place has tons of chemical garbage in the most innocent seeming food.

Mskestrela, please share your findings with us :)

I can already confirm that for you, Msk, it's in there. lol I had to take a quick trip to the grocery store yesterday, picked up some staples for the house and my wife wanted a Little Caesars hot and ready. I picked up a bag of chicharrónes from a locally owned taqueria for myself, the only way I get "fast food" is if it's not from a big chain, and I stick with low-carb/low-sugar options.

I was curious what was in the flavored coffees we buy. They don't really list all the ingredients. I looked up the recipes and was not happy to see the things they add to what I thought was just coffee with cocoa or vanilla added. They add sugar, barley and other flavorings.

Will do, Sugar. Chicharrones.....mmmmmmmmdrool. I'll have to check the taqueria in my little town to see if they have them. There is an international supermarket in the town where I work, but it's a pretty good drive to get there..not on my usual route. I do make the effort pretty regularly, because it's the only place I can find the organ meats I love. Beef hearts and sweetbreads top the list.

I just added 3 drops of peppermint oil in my coffee. Strong. At least it's all organic. Thanks mskestrela!
