It is absolutely necessary to love yourself regardless of what you're trying to do.

Maybe you're trying to lose weight, maybe you're trying to gain it, but it should not matter. I often hear people who say they want to reach a certain weight in order to love themselves better, but it's very important to highlight that your body should not obstruct you from loving you. Love yourself unconditionally, because who knows what might happen to your body? Maybe you'll lose a limb, maybe two, maybe all of them, or maybe an eye or an ear or even a finger. Your body is a machine that you drive during your adventures, or misadventures, and all that matters is that you should be feeling comfortable with it and that it is - actually - healthy. Not being able to do certain activities solely because of your weight doesn't fall into the 'healthy' category, and it makes me sad to see people spreading things that encourage this kind of behaviour and normalise it. Personally, I am losing weight in order to be able to do things that I, right now, am not able to do. Your goal should be health, better quality of life, and satisfaction. Besides, if you didn't love yourself, you wouldn't bother trying to fix things, so there is at least a grain of self-love within you, you just gotta let it bloom. Cheers. xo ♥

Thank you so much, I really needed this. I am sick of trying to lose weight it really sucks. I think I might want to reconsider this account.

I hate trying to lose weight, too. I don't mind changing what I eat, and I don't mind measuring my portions, but I refuse to go hungry and I refuse to put myself in a situation where I'm judging my behavior as "good" or "bad." High fat, sugary foods helped me to quit smoking. When I sobered up from my substance abuse debacle, baked and deep fried desserts gave me pleasure and helped keep me sober. Along the spectrum of my life, food has been my friend and it still is. Right now, I am making new friends. I said goodbye to GMOs and that got rid of fast food, candy and most processed food. Just doing that made me lose 25 pounds permanently. That was six years ago. I was shocked to log in yesterday and see I basically weigh the same now as I did then! Forgoing GMOs was a lifestyle change I made for political and health reasons, and losing weight was just a side effect. If you don't want to keep this account, if it's not right for you right now, it's OK. I wish you well on your journey, whether it includes dietary changes or not. Whoever you are, you are unique and lovely and you know what is best for yourself.

I think Publix missed the point of the post. Loving yourself as you are doesn't mean you shouldn't strive for more or better. Deciding that because you love yourself even though you're way over weight doesn't mean quit. It means get your game on so you can love yourself longer, not wait for the limb to be lost through diabetes or some other (often) life choice disease. We're here to lean out because we do love ourselves. Saying you love yourself when you know that your current lifestyle is going to kill you isn't the same as loving yourself enough to fix it. You have to think of your family and friends too. Imagine the pride of having it sorted out and knowing the fortitude you have.
